STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP
For a long time, when the going got rough, my first instinct was to blame and belittle myself. It turned me into a sad, lost person. I’ve struggled with depression for a long time and here are some things Ive learned to help me get out of that dark place:
✨WHY BEATING YOURSELF UP DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD!!✨
💕it keeps you stagnant-
You cannot bully yourself into positive change!! Negative thoughts have a way of making you spiral and lose control. You get so caught up in the detail, you forget to move or make a change. Be your #1 supporter all the time!! If a friend was feeling down, you wouldn’t remind them of all their mistakes and flaws. You would uplift them and point out all their best features! Do the same for yourself.
💕you start to believe untrue aspects about yourself-
You are not a bad person. You are not ugly or unworthy of love. You are not a mistake or a reject, you are human!! Humans are messy and make mistakes and have flaws, that’s what makes us so beautiful! We have the opportunity to grow and change and evolve.
💕negative thoughts change how you view the world-
What you give is what you receive. If your thoughts are cluttered with negative viewpoints, the world is going to seem x10 darker and scarier and meaner than it actually is. Look for the light in all the darkness, hold onto it, and let it become you!
💕you forget the most unique and special parts about yourself-
There is no one out there that is like you, and that is so special!! Take pride in who you are, because I promise, you are so much more than what the bad days say. Nobody laughs like you, smiles like you, walks or talks like you, and that is what makes humankind so beautiful. Love every bit of what makes you special and different.
✨THINK MORE KINDLY✨
💕list things that you’re grateful for-
Yes, this is the oldest trick in the book, but how often are you reminding yourself how blessed you are? Even if you’re down in the dumps, everyone has something to be grateful for. This is an instinct mood booster and will get you in the right mindset! Try it now :)
💕judgmental Judy needs to GO HOME!!-
Most of the time when we pass judgment on someone, it’s just projecting our own insecurities. When you find yourself thinking ugly thoughts about others- stop yourself and evaluate why you think that! Most of the time, we don’t know people enough to make judgements. Most of the time, people are fighting impossible battles. Show love and grace to everyone, including yourself!
💕choose to love the “unlovable” parts of yourself-
Those parts deserve love too! The parts you’re ashamed of, or embarrassed of, or scared of. The scars, stories, mistakes, all of that deserves love. When you choose to love every aspect of you, life gets better.
💕you are so much more loved and valued thank you think!!-
Those hateful things you say about yourself? How you’re unlovable, unworthy, not enough? Yeah, all of that is bologna! And I’m sure if you asked anyone who really knows you, they would say the same. It’s just the depression or bad day or break up or stress or whatever that is making you feel that way.
💕LOVE YOURSELF THROUGH EVERY PHASE-
You’re going to have bad days, bad weeks, maybe bad years. You’re going to make mistakes, hurt others, embarrass yourself, and have regrets. That’s life, princess. Love yourself through it and learn from your mistakes. Everyone deserves love even on their bad days. You do too!!!
I hoped this helped! I hope it gave you a new perspective. What do you do on days you can’t seem to pick yourself back up? What helps you that might help others?
I would also love to hear somethings y’all are grateful for in the comments :)
