Cleaning 🧽 Fridge

Be honest—when was the last time you actually deep-cleaned your fridge, not just wiped a shelf?

It’s wild how fast mystery sauces and forgotten leftovers pile up. Some say weekly, others wait until a science experiment starts.

So what’s normal—routine hygiene or chaos until it smells suspicious?

Let’s talk fridge reality, not perfection.💬🤔👀🤱🏼🧽

Because for me some days just having food in the fridge is enough for me !! 🤷🏼‍♀️

... Read moreCleaning your fridge might not be the most glamorous household chore, but it's essential for maintaining a healthy kitchen environment. The question "How often are we cleaning fridge?" is surprisingly common—the OCR image mentions this directly, highlighting a shared curiosity about routine fridge hygiene. Experts generally recommend deep-cleaning your fridge every 1 to 3 months. However, how often you clean depends on your usage habits and lifestyle. If you frequently store fresh produce, raw meats, or leftovers, a monthly deep clean can prevent unpleasant odors and bacterial growth. Some people prefer a weekly wipe-down of spills and crumbs to maintain cleanliness between deeper cleans. The buildup of "mystery sauces and forgotten leftovers" mentioned in the article is typical for many households. These can accumulate quickly, especially if you're busy or simply forget food lurking at the back of shelves. To tackle this without stress, try setting calendar reminders or combining fridge cleaning with your regular grocery shopping routine. Start by removing all items to check for expired or spoiled products—this also gives you a chance to reorganize. Wipe down shelves and drawers with a mixture of warm water and mild detergent or a vinegar solution for natural disinfecting. Don't forget door seals and handles, which can harbor bacteria. Avoid harsh chemicals that might contaminate your food area and ensure the fridge dries completely before restocking. Regular cleaning not only improves hygiene but extends your appliance’s lifespan and reduces energy consumption by keeping the coils and vents dust-free. Remember, fridge maintenance reflects real-life kitchen challenges—no need for perfection every day, but consistent habits make all the difference. Sharing your fridge-cleaning routine or tips in communities like #asklemon8 or participating in challenges like #lemon8challenge can add fun motivation and useful ideas from others facing the same fridge reality.

Once a week. The day before garbage pick up. I feel better getting rid of everything that is no longer good and resetting for fresh groceries.

Fridge should be cleared at least twice a week, discarding any expired items. Rotate first in first out.
