✨Standup Diaries✨ 🌶️ Hot Chilli Pepper Standup?!
Gotta get those reps in!
Trying a hot chili pepper during a stand-up performance was definitely outside my comfort zone, but it taught me a lot about managing nerves and physical reactions on stage. Since I had never eaten a hot pepper before, I was naturally hesitant and even considered backing out the night before, which I think many people can relate to when facing a new challenge or fear. One tip I picked up during this experience is the importance of preparation—not only in your mindset but also practically. I went to the store to buy lactose-free milk because I am lactose intolerant and learned that regular milk, especially calcium-enriched fat-free options, really helps neutralize the spiciness. It's fascinating how dairy can counteract the burn from capsaicin, the compound that makes peppers hot. Another lesson was about pacing and training your tolerance. Just like physical reps for a sport, gradually increasing your chili pepper exposure can help you handle more heat. I’ve been training at my 'Spice Gym' by slowly introducing hotter peppers, which made the stage challenge less intimidating. This experience reminded me how stepping outside your comfort zone, whether on stage or in life, can lead to personal growth. Facing the fear of 'the hot pepper'—or any daunting task—paired with small acts of preparation and patience, really pays off. If you're thinking of trying something spicy or taking a bold step in your life, remember to take it one step at a time, and look for ways to make the journey manageable and even fun!
