Fresh Fish Recipe 🐟

Y'all wanted the recipe so here it is. 👇🏾

🐟 Fresh Bream aka Brim

Cut a few slits into the fish so the seasoning gets down into the meat.

Rinse it one more time then pat it completely dry.

Don't skip this..a dry surface helps the mustard and seasoning stick better.

Lightly coat with olive oil and mustard as a binder.

Season generously...your choice.

Rub the seasoning into the slits and all over the fish.

Add your vegetables to the pan. I used okra and sweet peppers.

Squeeze fresh lemon over the fish.

Bake at 400°F for about 40 minutes if you like your fish and okra crispy like me. Your fish may be done sooner depending on size and preference.

Whole foods. Full of flavor. 🙋🏾‍♀️

... Read moreCooking fresh fish like bream at home can be incredibly rewarding, especially when you follow a few key steps to maximize flavor and texture. One tip I’ve found helpful is to make several slits in the fish before seasoning. This allows the flavors to penetrate deeper into the meat rather than just sitting on the surface. Another important part of the process is drying the fish completely after rinsing it. Leaving the surface dry helps the olive oil and mustard adhere better, which in turn helps your seasoning stay put and creates a delicious crust when baked. Using mustard as a binder is a clever way to add a tangy undertone and ensure that all spice rubs – whether it’s paprika, garlic powder, or herbs – stick firmly. You can personalize the seasoning based on your preferences. Adding vegetables like okra and sweet peppers not only adds color and nutrition but also complements the mild flavor of the bream. These veggies can roast beautifully alongside the fish, absorbing the juices and developing a slight crispness that contrasts nicely with the tender fish. For the best results, bake the fish at 400°F for around 40 minutes, but keep an eye on it since cooking times vary based on the fish’s size and your texture preferences. If you like a crunchier edge on both fish and vegetables, a slightly longer bake works great. Finally, squeezing fresh lemon juice over the fish after baking brightens the flavors and adds a fresh, zesty finish. This simple, whole foods recipe has become a personal favorite for easy, healthy weeknight dinners with minimal fuss but full flavor.
