Just a gentle restart on my skincare

1. Garnier Micellar Water

Too tired to wash my face postpartum. This was the only reason my skin survived. One swipe, done. 🧴

2. La Roche-Posay Lipikar Wash

Postpartum skin was flaking off my face. This cleaned without stripping anything. Game changer. 🤍

3. The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner

Dark spots from pregnancy? This $9 toner faded them. 2-3x a week. That’s it. 👏

4. Paula’s Choice 2% BHA

Hormonal breakouts postpartum had me in a chokehold. This cleared my pores without wrecking my skin. 🖤

5. Arilan Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Dehydrated crusty skin → plump and glowy. Apply on damp skin. Thank me later. 💧

6. Obagi Retinol 1.0

My husband asked what I got done. It was this. Start slow. Worth every penny. ⚠️ Not while nursing.

7. Lancôme SPF 50

None of this works without sunscreen. No white cast, sits perfect under makeup. Non-negotiable. ☀️

... Read moreNavigating skincare after pregnancy can feel overwhelming, especially when your skin reacts to hormonal changes and the demands of new motherhood. From my own experience, starting with gentle but effective products was key to restoring my skin’s balance without irritation. Micellar water is a lifesaver for busy or tired moms; it's quick to use and removes makeup and impurities without harsh rubbing or rinsing. Pairing it with a gentle cleanser like La Roche-Posay’s Lipikar Wash helped calm my flaky, sensitive postpartum skin while maintaining moisture. Targeted treatments like The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner and Paula’s Choice 2% BHA are game changers. Using glycolic acid just 2-3 times a week helped fade dark spots from pregnancy safely. Meanwhile, salicylic acid from Paula’s Choice cleared up stubborn hormonal breakouts gently, without stripping the skin’s natural barrier. Hydration was another important step. Applying a hyaluronic acid serum on damp skin made an incredible difference, turning dehydrated and rough skin into plump, glowing skin. Retinol creams can boost skin renewal, but they require careful introduction and aren’t recommended while nursing. One non-negotiable for me was sunscreen—Lancôme’s SPF 50 fit seamlessly under makeup without leaving a white cast, protecting healing skin from sun damage. Overall, this gentle restart on skincare was a personal journey that taught me patience and consistency. Combining mild cleansers, focused treatments, intense hydration, and diligent sun protection can help any new mom reclaim her healthy skin glow even amidst the chaos of postpartum life.
