🤑 HOW TO save $100 a month spending money.

i applied for a free cashapp card to take advantage of the perks. i looked into ways i could maximize my personal finance goals and found the round-up savings program.

step 1: apply for a free cashapp card/account via the app.

step 2: link your bank account or debit card, and use the cashapp card for small monthly expenses.

step 3: use the photos above to activate your round-ups. this means that every time you make a purchase, cashapp will put the “change” in your savings account. i use this for lattes, eyebrows, minis, quick meals out, etc - the same amount goes in savings if you spend $1 or $100!

i end up seeing $50, $75, even $150 in roundups hit my savings every month from small purchases made throughout. this ended up being a no-brainer for me. it’s amazing to see how little bits of “pocket change” add up over weeks and months. the money can be moved to your bank account from cashapp savings at any time, OR you can take a portion of the savings & learn how to start (lightly) investing with other features.

what other apps offer similar features? 🤔

... Read moreWhile those automatic round-ups are absolutely magical for building up a savings cushion without even thinking, I quickly realized I wanted to get more intentional with my money. That’s when I started exploring how to create and manage specific savings goals right within my Cash App. It’s been a total game-changer for hitting bigger financial milestones, like my dream vacation fund or even just saving for a new gadget! Creating Your Personalized Savings Goals in Cash App It’s surprisingly straightforward to set up dedicated savings goals. Here’s how I do it: Navigate to the Savings Tab: You’ll find the 'Savings' section in your Cash App. Tap on it. Find 'Set a Goal': Look for this option. The app will prompt you to create a new goal. Name Your Goal: Be specific! 'Europe Trip 2025' or 'Emergency Fund' works better than 'Savings.' A clear name boosts motivation. Set a Target Amount & Date: Input how much and by when. E.g., '$3,000 for Europe Trip by December 2025.' Seeing that target helps visualize progress. Once set, you’ll see your goal displayed, often with a progress bar, which is incredibly motivating! Funding Your Goals: Beyond Round-Ups While round-ups are excellent for a general savings boost, for specific goals, I take a more active approach using the 'Transfer in' feature, as seen on the Cash App savings screen. You can: Manual Transfers: Easily 'Transfer in' a lump sum from your linked bank account whenever you have extra cash, like from unexpected bonuses. Automated Recurring Deposits: This is my favorite! I set up a small amount, say $50, to automatically transfer into my 'Emergency Fund' goal every payday. It’s 'set it and forget it' for my most important goals. Remember, your automatic round-ups usually go into your general Cash App savings balance. From there, you can easily transfer those accumulated funds into your specific, named goals. It's like having a 'slush fund' to allocate! Managing Your Savings Goals for Success Setting a goal is one thing, but consistent management is key. Cash App offers tools for this: Track Your Progress: Regularly check your goals section to see how much you’ve saved. This visual feedback is a huge motivator. Adjusting Goals: Life happens! You can adjust your target amount or date if circumstances change. If I can save more, I update my goal. If an unexpected expense arises, I might push back a less critical goal's deadline. 'Transfer Out' When Needed: When you finally hit your target, or if an urgent need arises, the 'Transfer out' option is there. You can move funds from your specific goal back to your Cash App balance or linked bank account. The sense of accomplishment when transferring out for a goal reached is immense! Quick Tips for Crushing Your Cash App Savings Goals Be Crystal Clear: Specific goals are more effective. Automate Deposits: Set up recurring transfers for consistent progress. Review Regularly: Check your progress weekly to stay motivated. Celebrate Milestones: Small rewards keep motivation high. Be Flexible: Adjust goals as life changes. Flexibility leads to sustainable saving. Between the effortless accumulation from round-ups and the intentional goal-setting features, Cash App has truly transformed how I approach saving. It shows how powerful small, consistent actions can be with the right tools!
