MY Lazy Day Stir-Fry
I just thawed a chicken breast (s&p, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, red pepper flakes), two eggs, old rice, used a can of carrots cut up and seasoned, an old onion I had diced up, some broccoli I had in the freezer that I threw in last minute after a quick blanche, soy sauce, teriyaki and bit of sriracha and voila. No measurements needed, I just needed food for work. (: (not in any order)#lazyfood #cookedrice #food
This lazy day chicken stir-fry is an excellent example of how you can create a nutritious and satisfying meal using common kitchen staples and leftovers, ideal for busy days when time is limited. Utilizing a thawed chicken breast seasoned with a blend of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and red pepper flakes, this dish packs a flavorful punch without requiring precise measurements, ensuring a stress-free cooking process. Incorporating old rice as the base not only prevents food waste but also gives the dish a hearty texture. Adding eggs enriches the protein content and gives an additional layer of taste and texture. The inclusion of frozen broccoli, quickly blanched, preserves nutrients and adds a healthy green element. Canned carrots offer both convenience and a slightly sweet contrast to the savory ingredients, while diced onions provide aromatic depth. The choice of sauces—soy sauce, teriyaki, and a touch of sriracha—creates a balanced umami flavor with a hint of heat, enhancing the overall taste profile without complicating preparation. This combination allows for versatility; you can adjust the flavors based on your preference, making it suitable for various palates. For a quick blanching technique, briefly boiling the broccoli until vibrant green and tender-crisp preserves its nutrients and texture. This simple step can elevate the dish’s freshness and mouthfeel. This recipe aligns well with the concept of "lazy food" — meals that are easy to prepare, use minimal fresh ingredients, and rely on pantry staples. It is perfect for meal prepping or packing lunches for work. The absence of measurements encourages intuitive cooking, making it accessible for novice cooks or anyone looking for a fast meal solution. Overall, this chicken stir-fry highlights how practical, delicious dishes can be crafted from everyday ingredients with minimal effort, emphasizing sustainability and convenience without sacrificing flavor or nutrition.
