This novel is a horror novel with very little love line, but it is what the author of "Spatula" wants to write and present new works to the reader, and after reading it, he said that Khun Spatula was very right to write this novel, even though the cover is in the direction of you deceiving the stars 🤣, but when he reads this novel with a creepy horror vibe, he gets a new story, and it is proof that Khun Spatula is one of the talented writers of the Thai fiction industry, who, in addition to writing Romance, is also one of the most talented writers. Writing horror work is good and very fun.
Who's there, not you, not anyone, tells of the "bubble," a company employee who had to go home to Nakhon Pathom Province after receiving a call from his mother that he and his brother had a motorcycle accident that fell three times straight. The bubble immediately took a leave of absence to come home to see his brother and his brother. But when he came home, the bubble was faced with a strange incident at night. And so much so that she and her brother were unable to sleep, Bubbles decided to put on a CCTV camera to watch the events of the night, but installing a CCTV camera was not easy, so she went to ask for help from "Ne," a high school old fan who stopped leaving each other because of the guilt, but when the CCTV was installed, the event was even bigger, the door was knocked every night, the window sounded, the gag, like a scratcher, the claw on the window glass, the strange dream, and the iron bearing.
The event grew so scary and violent that Bubbles couldn't bear to ask Ne for help. But at the same time, Bubbles and Ne had the opportunity to get close again, to think back to the old days and adjust their long-standing understanding, but the warmth didn't last long. When the horror intensified, Bubbles didn't know who the spirit was and what he wanted to harass her, her family, and Ne, her lover, both of them had to do whatever it took to get out of these haunting and crazy spirits.
This is another novel that we have named one of our favorite books for 2025, and this is the first story of Mr. Spatula that we have read. Before this, we had never read Mr. Spatula's work before. The first story was horror. 🤣🤣
The first thing this novel can do so cheekily is "atmosphere."
The author does not tell the story whiz, but creates a thin haze that slowly covers the reader from the front page, making us feel like walking into a dark room that is quiet, cold, and has something hidden in it, something that we're sure exists but cannot touch it, and the cool of the paddle is that she doesn't throw the puzzle blatantly at the reader, but slowly puts a small fraction in the conversation, in silence, in a short description that passes like it doesn't matter, but really matters if we go back and look again.
The peak of the story is the "unmasking of truth" that is not just broken, but changes the framework of the whole story. The truth that opens up makes every previous event have a new meaning. The knot is smart and gradually revealed diplomatically. What is thought to be understood becomes misunderstood. What is thought to be the character's habits becomes the result of something deeper, but it is not so complicated that it is difficult to understand. The last knot is the point that makes this novel go up to the next level. Read it and have the symptoms "Hey, this way, elder!" Hurry up and come to Volume 2. It is urgent. 🤣🤣
On the character side, we feel a lot of the "human" that Mr. Spatula has created through an easy-to-read, incomprehensible language and writing style that allows us to recognize their existence. Round characters are not loving, greedy, angry, lost, have mistakes, fear, vulnerability.
In addition, if you want to have a fun and disturbing reading atmosphere, leading you to read at night, you will get a full-max reading process. หลายคนที่เสิร์ช “คนไม่สำคัญ ไม้พาย” น่าจะอยากรู้ว่าเรื่องนี้คือแนวไหน น่ากลัวแค่ไหน และควรเริ่มอ่านไหม—เราเลยขอสรุปเป็นมุม “อ่านจริงแล้วได้อะไร” แบบไม่สปอยล์หนักนะ 1) คนไม่สำคัญ / Who’s there คือเรื่องเดียวกันไหม? ใช่ค่ะ ชื่อไทยที่คนเรียกติดปากจะวนๆ แถว “คนไม่สำคัญ” แต่ตัวเล่มจะใช้ชื่อ “Who’s there ไม่ใช่เธอ ไม่ใช่ใคร” ของคุณไม้พาย ซึ่งส่วนตัวเราชอบความย้อนแย้งของชื่อมาก เพราะพออ่านไปเรื่อยๆ จะเริ่มสงสัยว่า “แล้วใครกันแน่ที่ไม่สำคัญ” หรือจริงๆ สำคัญที่สุด 2) เหมาะกับคนชอบสยองขวัญแบบไหน เรื่องนี้เป็นสยองขวัญสายบรรยากาศ (atmosphere) มากกว่าสายตุ้งแช่ คือไม่ได้พึ่งผีโผล่พร่ำๆ แต่ใช้ความเงียบ ความผิดปกติในบ้าน และรายละเอียดเล็กๆ ให้เราคิดตาม เช่น เสียงเคาะประตูตอนดึก รอยประหลาดที่หน้าต่าง ภาพจากกล้องวงจรปิด ความฝันที่ชวนไม่สบายใจ พอรวมกันแล้วมันทำให้ “ระแวง” แบบหยุดไม่ได้ 3) ปกอบอุ่น แต่เนื้อหาหลอน—หลอกจริงไหม? ปกเป็นภาพคู่รักเดินจับมือกันตอนพระอาทิตย์ตก ดูละมุนมาก แต่เนื้อในคือคนละอารมณ์เลย (อันนี้ยืนยัน) ซึ่งมันทำให้ตอนอ่านยิ่งรู้สึกขัดแย้งดี: ภาพที่เหมือนจะปลอดภัย แต่เหตุการณ์ในบ้านกลับไม่น่าไว้ใจ เหมาะกับคนที่ชอบงานที่เล่นกับความรู้สึก “ไม่ตรงปก” แบบตั้งใจ 4) มีเลิฟไลน์ไหม อ่านเพื่อความฟินได้หรือเปล่า มีความสัมพันธ์ให้ลุ้น แต่ไม่ใช่แกนหลัก จุดเด่นจริงๆ คือการเอาความผูกพัน/ความค้างคาในอดีตมาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของแรงกดดัน ทำให้เวลาตัวละครต้องร่วมมือกัน เราจะอินมากขึ้น ไม่ได้หวาน แต่ “มีน้ำหนัก” 5) ถ้าอยากอ่านให้ได้อรรถรส (จากประสบการณ์เรา) - อ่านช่วงกลางคืนหรือห้องเงียบๆ จะอินกับบรรยากาศมาก แต่ถ้าขี้กลัว แนะนำอ่านตอนกลางวันแล้วค่อยเร่งตอนท้าย - อย่าอ่านแบบข้ามๆ เพราะนักเขียนจะซ่อนชิ้นส่วนปริศนาไว้ในบทสนทนาและรายละเอียดบ้าน/ครอบครัว - ถ้าเป็นคนชอบหักมุม ให้ตั้งข้อสงสัยไปเรื่อยๆ ว่า “สิ่งที่เห็น” เชื่อได้แค่ไหน โดยรวม ถ้าคุณกำลังตามหานิยายของไม้พายที่ไม่ใช่โรแมนซ์จ๋า และอยากได้สยองขวัญที่ค่อยๆ บีบจนไปพีคตอนเฉลย “คนไม่สำคัญ” เป็นเล่มที่ควรลองมากๆ (และเตรียมใจไว้ว่าอ่านจบแล้วอาจอยากต่อเล่ม 2 ทันที)
