We chose MESHES over GRILLES for our home renovation ✨

Grilles aren’t “wrong”… but they might not be the best choice anymore.

Most homeowners only realise this after moving in — when the house starts to feel more closed up than expected.

Window mesh gives you:

✔ Safety (for kids & pets)

✔ Insect-free home

✔ An unobstructed view

No bulky bars. No “caged” feeling.

You’re not just choosing safety — you’re choosing how your home feels every single day.

... Read moreWhen we renovated our home, deciding between grilles and window meshes was a critical choice that impacted both safety and the overall feel of our space. While grilles have long been used primarily for safety reasons, especially to prevent falls from windows, they often come with several drawbacks that only become apparent after moving in. From personal experience, one of the biggest issues with grilles is the feeling of confinement they create. The bulky bars can make rooms seem closed off and limit the view outside, affecting the natural light and brightness in the home. We realized that this sense of being 'caged' indoors could negatively affect our everyday living experience. In contrast, window meshes offered a surprising range of advantages we didn’t initially consider. Beyond providing equivalent safety—including the ability to withstand weight up to approximately 50kg and secure child locks—the mesh screens form a complete barrier against insects such as mosquitos, flies, and other pests. This meant fewer nuisance bugs inside and less reliance on chemical repellents, creating a healthier living environment. Aesthetically, meshes are almost invisible from a distance, contributing to a cleaner, more modern look. This unobtrusive design helps maintain the openness of our windows and preserves the architectural integrity of our home. Another practical benefit we appreciated was the flexibility window meshes offer. Unlike fixed grilles that are always present, meshes can be designed to open or retract when we need them to. This feature makes cleaning the windows or accessing the exterior much easier without compromising on safety. Ultimately, choosing window meshes over grilles was not just about safety—it was about enhancing our lifestyle at home. We wanted a solution that protects our family, keeps insects out, and enriches the ambiance of our living spaces. For other homeowners considering this choice, we recommend carefully weighing not just the upfront cost but the long-term comfort and convenience each option provides. From our experience, window meshes deliver a well-rounded solution that meets safety needs and improves everyday living.

April was a busy one! We stepped into hundreds of homes, and many have told us:“finally we can open our windows safely!” Because let’s be real - safety does not mean bulky grilles, blocked views, and a “caged” home. Our mesh:✔ Keeps your home safe (yes, it’s strong)✔ Blocks insects (someth

The upgrades that changed our home (without a full reno)
We almost spent $80K on a full reno but these small upgrades (<$20K total) made a bigger difference: Paint. Doors. Mesh. Toilet tiles. Appliances. We were also lucky to have found a resale flat in relatively good condition. Save this for your future renovation 🤍 Comment if you need an

HOUSE TOUR PART 2 🤎 Kitchen & lounge area
The kitchen is a dream come true - we almost went with the same tiles as our living room and a minimalistic grey sintered stone, but I’m glad we went with bolder choices ✨ Also really like our lounge area and no regrets knocking down the wall of bedroom 3 for a more open living space! Our recom

Should we hire a helper with 2 kids?
We've been doing well without a helper so far and have been relying on part-time live-out helpers to settle the heavier household chores such as washing toilets, cleaning insect meshes and changing bedsheets. However, with bb2's arrival soon, we're not sure how the dynamics and work

My window was installed wrongly - $380 mistake!
So what happened was that our common toilet window size was reduced and it wasn’t highlighted to us. They had good reason to do so as the window will hit our yard windows if we push out + install grilles. I’m thankful for their foresight but at the same time, frustrated that this wasn’t highlig
