I've been working on my own dream island, and I wanted to share some of my favorite tips and tricks for creating those amazing, functional outdoor spaces that we all love. It's all about making your island feel like a real, bustling world! One of the most popular requests I get is how to make a cozy outdoor cafe or a lively restaurant. For my ice cream shop, I used a lot of simple panels customized with ice cream cone designs and placed serving carts with ice cream displays. You can even mimic real-world brands like a Starbucks ACNH setup or a Dunkin Donuts with custom signs and seating areas. I've seen some incredible Subway and Panera Bread storefronts too! Don't forget items like espresso makers, coffee cups, and bistro tables. For a more formal restaurant, think about using fences for privacy, maybe some elegant streetlamps, and definitely a kitchen island or a diner counter to serve up those delicious virtual meals. Adding a cafe sign ACNH really brings it all together! After all that eating, who wouldn't want a relaxing spa day? I've been building a beautiful nail salon and spa area. For this, look for items like the massage bed, cypress plant, and stone bath. For a yoga studio, you can lay down custom yoga mat designs and place incense burners. I love using specific colors like pinks and light blues for a serene atmosphere, just like you see in my images! Water features and lush greenery really enhance the calming vibe. My favorite recent addition is a lazy river! This takes a bit of terraforming skill, but it's so worth it. Plan out your river path first, then decorate the banks. I used blue and white striped umbrellas, lounge chairs, and even a little red lifeguard stand for that perfect resort feel. Don't forget a cooler full of refreshments! It's the ultimate chill-out spot. You can extend this concept to other shops too! Think about a PINK boutique with cute clothing items or an Auntie Anne's pretzel stand. The key is using custom designs for storefronts on simple panels and then placing the right furniture items to match. Even small details, like a gumball machine or vending machines, can make a huge difference in creating an authentic shop feel. And don't forget the holidays! Once your island's infrastructure is built, half the fun is decorating for Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day & Easter. Having designated spaces for shops and cafes makes it so much easier to switch up your seasonal decor and keep things fresh! These are just a few ideas to get you started, but the sky's the limit in ACNH. Happy designing!
