... Read moreOh, Sundays in Porto! There's just something magical about them. If you're wondering how to really soak up the city's charm on a relaxed Sunday, let me tell you about my perfect day. I always start my Sunday mornings by finding a cozy cafe. There’s nothing quite like a freshly brewed coffee, perhaps enjoyed from a takeaway cup as you wander the quiet, cobbled streets. And, of course, a pastel de nata is an absolute must! Those golden-brown custard tarts are pure bliss, especially when they’re still warm. It’s the perfect fuel for a day of exploring. I love finding a spot with a marble table outside, just watching the city wake up. After my morning coffee ritual, I love to just get lost in the winding alleys. The views from so many of Porto's spots are incredible. You can catch glimpses of historic clock towers peeking out between buildings, and the panoramic rooftops stretching towards the Douro River are breathtaking, especially with the pastel-colored sky. A stroll along the riverside cityscape is always a highlight, watching the boats and the world go by. For lunch or a mid-day snack, I’d highly recommend seeking out a traditional Portuguese spot. If you're looking for that authentic, local deli vibe, places like Casa dos Presuntos 'Xico' are fantastic for trying local cured meats, cheeses, and other regional delights. It’s a real taste of Porto, and perfect for a relaxed Sunday meal. Don't forget to check out the charming shops you might stumble upon – I found one with beautiful clothing and unique gifts, adorned with festive garlands even! You might even find some colorful sardine cans, which make for great souvenirs or just a fun photo op. The afternoon is perfect for a leisurely walk along the river, or maybe even hopping on one of the traditional Rabelo boats for a different perspective of the city. As the sun begins to set, casting a golden glow over everything, I usually find a nice spot to reflect on the day, perhaps with another coffee. Sundays in Porto truly offer a unique blend of history, delicious food, and stunning scenery. It’s the ideal way to spend a day, embracing the slow pace and beauty of Portugal.
