Not All Glow-Ups Are Gentle
Not every glow-up is rooted in love.
Some are just well-dressed coping mechanisms.
I used to think cutting people off, staying “low-maintenance,” and keeping silent made me strong…
But really, I was just scared to need anything.
That wasn’t self-love that was self-abandonment in disguise.
🌱 This is your reminder:
Real self-love is soft but honest.
It holds space for your needs.
It doesn’t silence your hurt.
It doesn’t call healing weakness.
Let’s unlearn the “strong girl” mask and start practicing the kind of self-love that actually nourishes our nervous system.

You know how everyone talks about a 'glow-up'? For the longest time, I thought it was just about looking good, maybe getting a new wardrobe or a fresh haircut. But lately, I've realized the true 'energy glow' is so much deeper. It’s not just aesthetics—it’s about real healing, real peace, and truly coming home to ourselves. It’s the kind of radiance that comes from within, when your nervous system feels regulated and your soul is nourished. I used to push through everything, thinking that was strength. I’d cut people off, keep silent, and avoid needing anyone. Honestly, it was just self-abandonment disguised as self-love. My nervous system was constantly on edge, and no amount of external 'glow' could hide that. My journey to understanding the real meaning of an 'energy glow' started when I realized healing isn't always pretty; it's powerful. It means slowing down and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable. So, what does this authentic 'energy glow' actually look like? It’s a holistic approach, a 'Soft Girl Healing Checklist' if you will, that focuses on nurturing every part of you. First, Nervous System Regulation is key. This isn't just a buzzword; it’s essential for inner peace. I’ve found simple practices like deep breathing exercises throughout the day, grounding myself by walking barefoot or feeling the earth, taking intentional tech breaks, and practicing self-affirmations can make a huge difference. When my nervous system is calm, my energy shines naturally. Then there’s Self-Compassion. This was a tough one for me. I used to be my harshest critic. Now, I consciously practice speaking kindly to myself, allowing myself to rest without guilt (my body needs it!), practicing self-forgiveness for past mistakes, and even writing letters to my younger self to offer comfort and understanding. This gentle approach creates so much internal warmth. Boundaries & Energy management are also crucial. I learned that my energy glow dims when I let others drain me. This means confidently saying 'no' when I need to, unfollowing social media accounts that make me feel inadequate, giving thoughtful responses instead of immediate reactions, and fiercely protecting my peace. It's about preserving my own well-being. Finally, for me, Faith & Soul Work adds another layer to this 'energy glow.' This can look different for everyone, but for me, it involves reading affirmations that uplift my spirit, talking to God through prayer, surrendering burdens I can't control, and trusting divine timing. It brings a profound sense of peace and purpose. This holistic approach to a 'glow-up' – one that prioritizes nervous system health, self-compassion, strong boundaries, and soul nourishment – is what truly creates an 'energy glow.' It’s about building a foundation of inner peace and strength that radiates outwards, far more radiant than any superficial change. It’s a continuous, gentle journey of coming home to yourself.
