In art club today we had different stations with different themes. We were given a few minutes to draw something related to the theme and then we had to rotate to the next station.
The first station had the theme “City scape”
- I drew the sun and the last two buildings
The second had the theme “hybrid animal”
- I drew the bird bikini lady
The third has the theme “a day in the life of a cloud”
- I drew the ugly tree to the right 🤣 ,the lady cloud, and the bird
The fourth was “an enchanted library”
- I drew the Stephen King books, the book staircase with the rat going up, and the weird thumb, bird leg monster in a swimsuit 💀
The fifth station’s theme was “underwater world”
- I drew the Afro centric mermaid and the juicy lip fish admiring her, along with the bubbles
We all had a fun time and if we had more time to create, they would all be beyond masterpieces 🙌🏽😆
... Read moreYou know that feeling of walking into a creative space, music playing, and your mind just starts buzzing with ideas? That's exactly what my art club feels like! If you've ever wondered 'what do you do in art club,' let me tell you, it's an absolute blast and a fantastic way to unleash your inner artist, no matter your skill level.
Our sessions are designed to spark creativity with quick, themed challenges. We rotate through different stations, each with a unique prompt, and we only get a few minutes to sketch something related to it. It really pushes you to think on your feet and embrace imperfection, which is a huge part of the fun! It’s not about creating a masterpiece every time, but about exploring ideas and having a good time. Just like I mentioned about the “ugly tree” I drew – sometimes the quick sketches are the most memorable!
One of my favorite stations from our last session was the 'Hybrid Animal' theme. This is where your imagination truly runs wild! The goal is to combine different creatures into one wild new design. For anyone looking for '3 animals mixed together drawings' ideas, I totally recommend this challenge. Think about taking the head of one animal, the body of another, and maybe the wings or legs of a third! For example, one of my fellow club members came up with a fantastical cat-giraffe, while another imagined a frog-like figure with wings. I even sketched a bird with a human torso wearing a bikini – the possibilities are endless and often hilarious! When you're combining creatures, consider their natural habitats or personalities. Would a fish with bird wings prefer to swim or fly?
Another exciting theme was 'Cityscape.' It’s amazing how much detail you can suggest in just a few minutes. I focused on capturing towering tall buildings, a prominent sun, and a few birds soaring above. You don't need to draw every window; just a few key elements can convey the bustling energy of a city.
And who could forget the 'Enchanted Library'? This theme really let us dive into fantasy. I loved sketching whimsical elements like a book staircase with a cheeky rat scurrying up and a mysterious, monster-like figure peering from the shelves. Imagining specific details, like rows of 'Stephen King' books, can add so much character to your drawing.
For 'Underwater World,' it was all about movement and imagination. I pictured an Afro-centric mermaid, surrounded by playful dolphins and graceful seahorses, with bubbles floating around them. Capturing the flow of water and the unique shapes of marine life is key.
Even 'A Day in the Life of a Cloud' turned out to be super fun. I tried to personify the clouds, giving one a face with eyelashes and another raining down! Adding a smiling sun and even a gnarled tree nearby helped tell a little story. It's all about bringing inanimate objects to life.
Beyond the drawing itself, art club is a fantastic community. It’s inspiring to see everyone's unique interpretations of the same theme. There's no pressure, just encouragement and a shared love for creativity. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting, it’s such a rewarding experience. It's a great way to de-stress, explore new ideas, and simply have fun. So if you're curious about what you can do in an art club, trust me, it's an adventure for your imagination!
