WIP Rage/ Inner Demons inspired full sleeve!
Super stoked to have been able to work on such an awesome piece! We’ve still got some work to do on this one but we’re gonna start the other sleeve soon first, then save final touches for last!! 😻 #ragetattoo #tattooartists #ndtattooer #colortattoos #
Getting a full sleeve tattoo, especially one as intricate and thematic as a zombie pirate, is a significant commitment and an incredibly personal journey. For anyone dreaming of a similar piece, I wanted to share some insights and tips based on my own experience. First off, choosing the right artist is paramount. For a concept like a zombie pirate, you need someone with a strong portfolio in detailed, narrative-driven pieces and a true understanding of color and shading to bring out that decayed yet vibrant look. Don't rush this step! I spent ages looking for an artist whose style resonated with my vision, someone who understood what it means when clients say "Go Crazy" and give them creative freedom. It makes all the difference when your artist is as excited about the project as you are. Once you’ve found your artist, the design phase begins. This isn't just about picking a picture; it's about collaboration. For my zombie pirate tattoo, we discussed elements like tattered flags, barnacle-covered bones, sunken treasure, and ghostly ships. We focused on making sure each element flowed seamlessly into the next, creating a cohesive story around my arm. Think about the overall composition: how will it look from every angle? What kind of narrative do you want to tell? Then come the sessions themselves. A full sleeve is a marathon, not a sprint! Be prepared for multiple long sessions. Pain management is crucial – some areas are definitely more sensitive than others. I found that staying hydrated, getting good sleep the night before, and bringing snacks helped immensely. Don't be afraid to take breaks; your artist wants you to be comfortable, and it helps them maintain their focus too. It’s a true WIP, but every session brings you closer to the final masterpiece, and the excitement builds with each line and shade. Aftercare is non-negotiable, especially for such a large piece. Follow your artist's instructions meticulously to ensure proper healing and to preserve the vibrancy of your zombie pirate tattoo. This means gentle washing, moisturising, and protecting it from the sun. The healing process can be a bit itchy and sometimes peel, but patience is key for a brilliant, long-lasting result. It's a journey, and seeing the progress, even when it's a WIP, makes it all worth it. I'm always too excited not to share the latest updates!
