Traveling with my crew 5 out of 6 of us on our way down to FL with our blended family of 11!
Traveling with a large blended family can be a rewarding yet challenging experience, especially on long road trips like ours from Indiana down to Florida. One key tip I've found essential is planning frequent stops along the way—in states like Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia—not only to stretch and refresh but also to explore unique local attractions that add adventure to the trip. We make it a point to involve everyone in the planning process, which helps keep all 11 family members engaged and excited. For example, each person picks a favorite spot or restaurant to visit in each state. This approach makes the journey feel more personal and varied and reduces travel fatigue. Packing smart is another vital aspect. We bring along plenty of snacks, entertainment options, and comfort items like travel pillows and blankets to keep everyone comfortable and content during long stretches on the road. Navigating a large vehicle with kids, ensuring schedules align, and maintaining patience takes teamwork and communication, but the memories we create together are truly worth it. If you’re planning a similar family road trip, I highly recommend allowing for flexibility and embracing the spontaneity of travel—it often leads to the most memorable moments!
