Finally Coming Out My Depression Funk

I had to take a step back from social media and people in general for a while for my mental health. I ended up deactivating FB (an app I barely used), IG (an app I loved but needed a break from) and deleted my X account.

One of the things no one tells you about having clinical/major depressive disorder is that even with meds and there are still going to be many a day you feel like shit. It had gotten so bad I missed an appointment this month to renew my scripts and I only had the energy to do the bare minimum which was be a mom. Working was a struggle (thank God I’m 100 percent remote in a leadership position) and all I wanted to do was sleep (which I did most work days.)

My phone ringing or text message alerts made my anxiety levels shoot through the roof. I strongly considered a grippy sock vacation especially when the thoughts of why am I still here began to come more frequently. I felt like the only value I had to others (except for a select few) was what I could do for them.

These past few weeks have given my sympathetic nervous system the reset I needed to focus on getting healthy. I’m back taking my meds more consistently and I feel like I’m starting to feel more like my old self again.
