[Ep 2] Your cash shouldn’t stop working just because you’re waiting.

One of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve had as an investor is this:

I don’t just think about what I invest in.

I also think about whether my cash is working as efficiently as it can.

When I’m waiting for the right Cash Secured Put, I don’t force a trade just because I have cash sitting around.

I’d rather wait for a quality setup.

Depending on your broker and account setup, your uninvested cash may continue earning a yield while you wait for the right opportunity.

That completely changed the way I think about patience.

Instead of feeling like my cash is “doing nothing”, I know it’s still working in the background while I wait.

Is the extra yield going to make you rich?

Probably not.

But investing is rarely about one big decision.

It’s about making lots of small, sensible decisions that compound over time.

That’s one of the philosophies behind my US$10,000 Portfolio Journey.

Not chasing trades.

Not chasing premiums.

Just trying to make every dollar work a little harder while staying disciplined.

One thing I’ve learnt after more than five years of options selling is this:

The hardest part isn’t finding a trade.

It’s having the patience to wait for the right one.

That’s why I always look at stock selection first, then premium.

Options create options.

... Read moreWhen I first started exploring options trading, one thing that really stood out was the idea that cash sitting idle doesn't have to mean lost opportunity. Waiting for the perfect Cash Secured Put setup can sometimes take time, and during those pauses, it’s tempting to feel frustrated as if your money isn’t doing anything. But in truth, depending on your broker and account type, your uninvested cash can continuously earn a competitive money market yield, even while it's set aside as collateral. For instance, several brokers today offer enhanced liquidity accounts with 7-day APYs that range significantly and can add up nicely over time. This means that the cash earmarked for options collateral, instead of simply sitting in a non-interest bearing account, may accrue daily earnings — sometimes around 3.8% annually or more, depending on the product and market conditions. This supplemental income is modest, but it adds an extra layer of returns that compound quietly while you wait for your next quality trade. Through my own experience managing a $10,000 portfolio journey, I’ve come to appreciate the value in not rushing into trades just because of impatience. Instead, I focus first on selecting the right stocks and then evaluating the premiums. This sequence enhances the likelihood that the trades I enter are both strategic and profitable. Patience in investing is more than a virtue; it's a tactical advantage. By allowing your cash to generate a money market yield during waiting periods, you reduce the opportunity cost and improve your overall portfolio efficiency. Plus, this approach minimizes the risk of chasing lower quality trades or suboptimal premiums simply to stay active. Of course, not all brokers support earning yields on collateralized cash, so it’s essential to research and choose accounts that do. This practice creates a synergy between disciplined options selling and smarter cash management, leading to a more resilient and steadily growing portfolio. In summary, rethinking how your cash works while you wait is a game changer. Rather than feeling stuck or idle, your money continues to advance your financial goals quietly in the background. This mindset, coupled with disciplined stock and premium selection, can make a significant difference in your long-term investing success.

We didn’t get a single paint sample.
We didn’t have the luxury of time so we couldn’t get paint samples to try on our walls, we didn’t even go to a single paint shop to see the colours for ourselves. Now, this would usually spell a bad omen since we were going with ONE colour throughout. It was make or break. But here’s what I

🇸🇬 Entrepreneurship is hard, do you agree with me?
Entrepreneurship is really tough, but I still choose not to give up! If starting a business were easy, wouldn’t everyone be successful? Then the word “freedom” wouldn’t be so valuable, right? The reality is: Many people start out with passion, but stop the moment they face obstacles. The
