Really meet me
I once had to write a minimum of 5 page paper on my life in psychology for college. I’ll try to sum up the many great and tragic events in my life. I wrote the paper is 2017, so in the 7 years after, my life has added onto it.
My name is Ora Daar. I was named after my great grandmother, but my name is not short for Tzipora, it’s just Ora. I was born on the Eau Gallie Causeway on October 9, 2001 at 11:45 pm. My parents names are Sheri and Josh. I have four brothers and two sisters. We lived in Melbourne, FL, but I do not remember it because we move to Lake City when I was almost two years old. No one knew about me because my father had a heart attack when my mother was first pregnant with my older brother, Baruch. Everyone was yelling at my mom about how could she have a child when my dad was sick. Because of this experience, my mom and dad decided not to have a child for ten years and did not tell anyone about me until I was born. While my mother was pregnant with me, she received her Associate's Degree.
Growing up in a Jewish household is very different than any other household. I remember every year whenever there was a birthday in my class, I was not able to eat the cake because it was not kosher. My weekends were filled with going nowhere and everywhere at the same time, because of Shabbos. In kindergarten, my teacher said something about Jesus and I had no idea who or what she was talking about. I asked her what she meant and the kids in class started laughing at me. I cried when I got home.
On April 10, 2003, I had a big surprise in my life...I was moved out of my crib for a new baby in the family named Ronen. Then, a month later our next new addition to the family was my father's first son named Mordekhai, from a previous marriage whom he had not seen in 26 years. We tease him that he is the youngest brother because he showed up after Ronen was born.
On May 6, 2008, my father had a major heart attack and passed away on May 9th. I did not understand what was happening, because I was only 6 years old, but everyone took care of my family. We were the center for the Jewish community of Lake City. Three weeks later I crossed over in Girl Scouts from a Daisy to a Brownie. That August, I started going to a kids camp at Spirit of The Suwannee called SOS Kids music camp (SOSKMC). This camp focused on teaching children (and adults if they wanted) how to play musical instruments. I started out in vocals because I was not comfortable with anything else, but soon found myself in guitar class. After that, I made my way around all of the instruments and can play any of them today. Even though I can play any of them, my heart found a match in Ukulele. I now teach Ukulele and vocals at SOSKMC.
In 2015 my mom fell very ill and my siblings sent my little brother and I away to Jewish kids camp so that we didn’t see my mom slowly dying. She had everything but sepsis, that’s what the doctor said. She did eventually get better after being hospitalized for weeks, and she is alive to this day.
In 2019 I started a job at McDonalds. Fancy I know, but it was perfect to a 17 year old. I met my now Fiancé, and we’ve been going almost 5 years in August.
That basically sums up my life so far I think without going into every ache and pain detail.
Thank you if you read it, thank you if you even glanced at it❣️
