GREAT WAYS TO SAVE $$$ ON FOOD AND EAT GOOD 😍😍
helloo wanted to make a post on how i save money on food while still allowing myself to eat good and go out with friends (that usually requires eating good and paying good…💔💔)
#1 working at f&b places with staff meal😋
i used staffie a lot the past few weeks to earn extra cash, and it actually comes with additional perks of free staff meal depending on the management and the no of hours you work! i got really good pepperoni pizza while working at a bistro and also really good pesto pasta while working at a cafe!
do note that not all places provide staff meal and quality also varies… but you save on having to spend on one extra meal! and now you can spend more with your besties ❤️
#2 student meals at restaurants/kiosks 🤩
when going out with friends go to places that often have good discounts for students/ at specific times of the month!
featured is hot tomato $15.90 net for that beautiful striploin, gyg bestie deals <10$/pax , and gotcha matchas 2 for 9.90 deal on specific days
#3 go for “pay for as much as you take” eateries 😍
yochis a pretty good example here’s one instance i managed to keep my order below 5$, and look it’s still quite substantial for a dessert! the less you take the less you pay (and the less you waste!)
#4 meal prep!🪴
i did this mainly while i was still studying to stay nourished and save on canteen food! keep the ingredients simple, the prep simple and buy in bulk to spread out the cost across several meals! i made stuff like oven baked salmon, pan fried prawns with simple veg like cucumbers lettuce tomatoes that don’t require much prep, saves time and money (and looks good!)
In addition to the valuable tips shared about securing staff meals and taking advantage of student discounts, I’ve found another great way to save money on food that fits perfectly with an active social lifestyle. Whenever I plan to eat out with friends, I like to check out local apps and websites that offer daily meal deals, coupons, or flash sales. This can help uncover hidden gems with affordable prices or special promotions which aren’t widely advertised. For example, some eateries offer ‘happy hour’ snacks or desserts at steep discounts, similar to the pay-for-what-you-take model. This approach not only saves money but also reduces food waste—a win-win! Meal prepping is another game-changer, especially when you buy ingredients in bulk from discount stores or wholesale markets. Investing a little time during the weekend to prepare meals like oven-baked salmon or pan-fried prawns with simple veggies has helped me maintain a nutritious diet without spending heavily at the canteen or restaurants. Portioning these meals into containers for the week keeps things convenient and prevents impulse buys. One surprising strategy I’ve embraced is pairing budget-friendly drinks with affordable snacks or sides during social outings, which can keep the overall expense down while still enjoying the experience. Places that promote student deals or combo offers (like Gotcha Matchas’ 2-for-9.90 specials) are perfect for stretching your dollar. Lastly, I’ve started participating in community food swaps or local farmer's markets where you can sometimes trade or buy fresh produce at lower prices. These options not only support healthier eating but align well with saving money. Combining these tactics—employment perks, student discounts, pay-as-you-take eateries, meal prep, and discount hunting—creates a balanced, budget-conscious lifestyle where you can enjoy food and socializing without financial stress.
