Purple Coneflower 💜

Echinacea purpurea ~ aka purple coneflower. One of my favorite plants. I grew these beauties from seed. ☺️

She and I have spent countless hours together over the years - allowing me to harvest from her roots, leaves and flowers for making plant medicines.

Countless hours sitting with her in silence, tapping into her energies, marveling at the hundreds of butterflies and bees that had paused for a rest on those beautiful purple flowers.

I’m so grateful to have been led to this path of healing all those years ago. There were times throughout the years where I left the path. Not because I was lost, rather, I was rediscovering who I am. Who I am at the core. Beyond the physical aspect of me.

Just how this beautiful plant has the physical and the energy being aspects of her, so do I. So do you. We all are more than just physical beings.

For me, it was nature, Mother Earth, that woke me up - the physical and the energy being aspects of this beautiful planet. 💜

... Read morePurple Coneflower, scientifically known as Echinacea purpurea, is more than just an ornamental garden beauty. Native to North America, this plant has been revered for centuries for its medicinal properties and its ability to support the immune system. Traditionally, indigenous peoples have used Echinacea roots, leaves, and flowers to create remedies that help combat infections and boost overall wellness. Modern herbalists continue to harness the plant's powers, making tinctures, teas, and salves from different parts of the plant to promote healing. What makes purple coneflower particularly special is not just its physical attributes but also its energetic qualities. Many plant enthusiasts and healers describe sitting with the plant as a spiritual experience, connecting deeply with the natural world. It invites a quiet contemplation where the busy mind slows down and one can appreciate the delicate balance of life—the buzzing bees, fluttering butterflies, and the subtle energy the flower exudes. Growing Echinacea from seed, as shared in the original story, is a fulfilling journey of nurturing life and forging a personal relationship with the plant. This process allows gardeners and plant lovers to understand the rhythms of growth and the interconnectedness of physical and energy beings—echoing the holistic nature of healing. Such experiences highlight how humans and plants share a cycle, one where listening and observing lead to greater awareness and health. Incorporating purple coneflower into your garden not only beautifies your space but also invites a sanctuary for pollinators, which are vital for a thriving ecosystem. Moreover, its presence can be a daily reminder to adopt a healing mindset, recognizing that like the plant, we too encompass physical and energetic dimensions. This encourages self-care practices that honor both aspects, supporting holistic wellness. If you’re interested in exploring plant medicine, Echinacea is a gentle yet powerful introduction. Always source your plant material responsibly or grow your own, and consult knowledgeable sources or herbalists for guidance on safe and effective usage. Integrating purple coneflower into your lifestyle connects you not only to nature’s bounty but also to an ancient lineage of healing wisdom.
