私が「道の駅 せせらぎの里こうら」に寄ったのは、2022年の冬・大雪の翌日。トイレ休憩目的だったのですが、想像以上に雪が残っていて「これ、通常営業できるのかな…？」という雰囲気でした。結果的に、駐車場とトイレは助かったものの、売店や飲食が臨時休業っぽく見えた時間帯もあって（ソフトクリーム食べたかった…！）、冬の移動は“営業状況を念のため確認”が安心だと痛感しました。 検索して来る人が多い「甲良町道の駅」という意味では、ここは“買う・食べる・犬と遊ぶ”がまとまっているのが強みだと思います。まず直売所は地元野菜が中心で、手に取りやすい量と価格帯。特に気になったのが、滋賀県（甲良町）産のお米「きらみずき」。銘柄米って名前だけで選ぶとハズレが怖いけど、道の駅で見かけると産地の安心感があって試しやすいんですよね。もし購入するなら、精米日をチェックして、持ち帰りは車内の高温を避けるのがおすすめです（暖房が当たりっぱなしだと風味が落ちやすい印象）。 グルメは、通常営業なら石窯ピザの「PIZZERIA UNO」やクレープ、定食系の食堂が揃っていて、休憩以上に“目的地化”しやすい道の駅。犬連れの人はドッグランもポイントで、無料エリアと貸切エリアがあるのがありがたいです。さらにOCRにもあった通り、犬用ピザが販売されていることもあるので、愛犬家の人気スポットとして覚えておくと便利。行く前に「今日はドッグランの時間（冬期は短い）に間に合うか」を逆算すると失敗しにくいです。 あと、雪の日に強く言いたい注意点が2つ。1つ目は国道307号線の通行状況。私が通った日は、北側が積雪で閉鎖されていて迂回が必要でした。2つ目は踏切周辺の積雪で、両サイドに1m以上の雪が積もっている場所もあり、電車が運休しているような気配も。ナビの最短ルートより“除雪されやすい幹線優先”で組むのが安全です。 総合すると、「せせらぎの里こうら」は、普段は買い物・ごはん・犬連れに強い道の駅で、冬は“トイレ休憩の拠点として頼れるけど、臨時休業や通行止めの可能性あり”という印象でした。次は天気のいい日に、きらみずきとピザとクレープをしっかり楽しみに行きたいです。
