Awaji Service Area
The Awaji Service Area (SA), just across the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, is a popular spot for its superb views and diverse facilities. The biggest feature is that you can freely come and go by car between the three facilities of "Up, Down, Awaji Highway Oasis."
Main features of the facility
[Outbound: Awaji Island, Shikoku area]
Ferris Wheel: You can enjoy a walk in the air for about 15 minutes per lap (last reception 20: 45).
Starbucks: The terrace seats with a spectacular view of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge are popular.
[Up: Kobe, Osaka direction]
Heart Light Gate: There is a photo spot known as "lover's sanctuary."
Restaurant Royal: You can enjoy afternoon tea (reservation required) and meals while looking at the superb view.
[Awaji Highway Oasis]
Adjacent to SA, there are plenty of "product shops" and restaurants where you can find Awaji Island's special products and local seafood.
Precautions for use
Rules of going and going: Even if you move from the down SA to the up SA, there is no additional toll.
Use from Awaji IC: Please note that when entering the Awaji IC (toll gate) from the general road, you cannot stop at Awaji SA or Highway Oasis due to the structure.

淡路サービスエリアは明石海峡大橋を渡った直後に立ち寄れる絶景スポットとして知られており、私も何度か訪れたことがあります。特に印象的なのは、3つの施設を自由に行き来できる構造で、同じSA内で上下線のサービスや淡路ハイウェイオアシスを楽しめる点です。これは他のサービスエリアにはなかなかないユニークな特徴なので、車で通過するだけでなくじっくり観光気分で立ち寄るのがおすすめです。 私は下り線の大観覧車に乗ったことがあり、15分ほどの空中散歩から眺める明石海峡大橋の景色は圧巻でした。展望テラスにあるスターバックスのコーヒーを持ち込んで、潮風を感じながらゆったり過ごすのも格別です。ただし、OCRにもあるように風の強い場所なので、冬季はかなり寒く感じることもあるため防寒対策が必要です。 上り線には「恋人の聖地」とされるハートライトゲートがあり、ここは写真撮影に人気のスポットです。私の友人はここで記念写真を撮り、淡路島旅行の思い出にしていました。また、レストラン ロイヤルのアフタヌーンティーは予約制ですが、絶景を眺めながら贅沢な時間を過ごせるのでカップルや女性に特に人気です。 さらに淡路ハイウェイオアシスでは、地元の新鮮な海鮮や特産品を買うことができ、旅行の土産探しにぴったりです。観光客だけでなく地域の人も訪れるため、常に賑わいがあります。 利用上の注意点としては、下りSAから上りSAに移動しても追加料金がかからない点は安心ですが、淡路ICから一般道利用で入ると構造上サービスエリアには立ち寄れません。私も初めて行った際にこの点を知らず、少し戸惑った経験があります。余裕を持って計画したほうがよいでしょう。 全体的に淡路サービスエリアは単なる休憩場所を超えた観光スポットとして魅力が多く、時間に余裕があればぜひ立ち寄ってみてください。特に天気の良い日には明石海峡大橋の絶景と多彩な施設を満喫できるので、旅の思い出作りにおすすめです。
