Cape Muroto, located at the southeastern tip of Kochi Prefecture, is a scenic spot where you can enjoy dynamic topography and a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.

Muroto UNESCO Global Geopark: A unique reef area and coastal terraces spread out, which were created by the uplift of the ground caused by huge earthquakes that occur every few decades to a hundred and several decades.
Cape Muroto Lighthouse: This is a historical lighthouse that has been around since the Meiji era, with the largest lens in Japan (1st class Fresnel lens).
Ranreef Promenade: A promenade lined with strangely shaped rocks along the coast, dotted with legendary places such as Mikurijin Cave, where Kukai (Kobo Daishi) is said to have practiced.
Observatory: The observatory near the statue of Shintaro Nakaoka is also certified as a "lover's sanctuary," and you can see the horizon over 180 degrees.

By car: About 2 hours from Kochi City (via National Route 55).
Public Transportation: About 1 hour by Kochi Tobu Kotsu Bus from Nahari Station on the Tosa Kuroshio Railway.

Local gourmet: Fresh seafood, "Muroto Kinme Don" and local soul food "Kanba Mochi" are popular.

室戸岬観光は「何があるの？どれくらい時間かかる？」が一番気になるところ。私は“室戸岬の1番先っちょ”を見たくて行ったんですが、結論から言うと、景色の迫力は想像以上でした。岩も浜の石も黒っぽくて、海水がめちゃくちゃ透明。写真だと伝わりにくいんですが、現地は波の音と風も含めて“太平洋の端っこ感”が強いです。 回り方のおすすめは、①乱礁遊歩道（海沿い）→②御厨人窟・神明窟→③中岡慎太郎像〜展望台→④室戸岬灯台、の順。徒歩＋少し車移動で、サクッとなら2〜3時間、写真を撮りながらゆっくりだと半日くらい見ておくと安心です。特に乱礁遊歩道は、足元がゴツゴツしている場所もあるので歩きやすい靴が正解。海が荒い日は潮をかぶることもあるので、カメラ（GoProなど）を出すならストラップがあると安心でした。 注意点は“暑さ”。海沿いは本当に陰が無くて、夏場はキツいです。私は「暑くて陰もなく即、撤退」になりかけました…。帽子・日焼け止め・サングラスに加えて、飲み物は多め（自販機がある場所とない場所がある）がおすすめ。風が強い日も多いので、羽織れるものが1枚あると体感がかなり変わります。 室戸岬灯台は、灯台へ向かう道が「崖を上る道路で行く…こわいよ」と感じるくらいの区間もありました。運転に不安がある人は、明るい時間に余裕をもって移動するのがコツ。途中の中腹あたりに展望台（たぶん恋人の聖地）があって、ここからの見晴らしもかなり良いので、ぜひ寄り道してみてください。 最後にグルメ。室戸市観光の締めは、室戸キンメ丼や魚介、そして“かんば餅”。歩いたあとに食べると満足度が跳ね上がります。室戸岬は無料で散策できる範囲が広いので、天気が良い日に合わせて行くと当たりの日になります。
