Roadside Station Biwako Ohashi Rice Plaza is located at the western end of Biwako Ohashi in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture.

Superb View Observation Terrace: From the balcony on the 2nd floor, you can overlook Lake Biwa Bridge and Lake Biwa, and it is popular as a photo spot.
Direct sales of Omi rice: As the name "Rice Plaza" suggests, there is a wide selection of locally grown Omi rice, as well as fresh vegetables and special products from Shiga (lake fish tsukudani, Omi beef, local sake, etc.).
Lakeview Restaurant: Enjoy dishes made with local ingredients such as biwa trout, Omi beef, and Omi rice while viewing Lake Biwa.

Until around 2026, the number of parking spaces may be limited due to the repair work of the Biwako Bridge.

道の駅琵琶湖大橋米プラザは、私が地元のドライブスポットとして多く訪れている場所の一つです。何度足を運んでも、その美しい琵琶湖の景観には癒されます。特に２階にある展望テラスからの眺めは、天気が良ければ琵琶湖全体と琵琶湖大橋を見渡せ、写真撮影のベストスポットとしても人気です。 この施設の魅力の一つは、やはり地元の新鮮な食材が豊富に揃う直売所「おいしやうれしや」です。炊きたての近江米や旬の野菜、湖魚の佃煮、近江牛など、地域の味覚をお土産としても購入できるのが嬉しいポイントです。私は特にここで買った近江米を家で炊いて楽しむのが好きで、もっちりとした食感と豊かな甘みが格別です。 また、レイクビューレストランでは琵琶湖の恵みを使った料理が堪能できます。ビワマスの刺身や近江牛のステーキは絶品で、地元食材のおいしさを改めて実感できます。食事をしながら湖の景色を眺められるのは贅沢な時間で、友人や家族とのお出かけに最適です。 駐車場は無料で普通車136台、大型車18台収容可能ですが、2026年頃まで橋の補修工事により一時的に駐車台数が制限される可能性があるため、週末や連休時は早めの訪問をおすすめします。 私のおすすめの過ごし方は、まず直売所で近江米や特産品を購入し、その後展望テラスで琵琶湖大橋の絶景を満喫。さらに徒歩で琵琶湖大橋の展望台まで足を伸ばし、より高い位置からのパノラマビューを楽しみます。季節ごとの変わりゆく湖の表情を体感できるこのルートは、ぜひ多くの方に体験してほしいです。 また、道の駅には「OSMO POCKET 3」などの高性能カメラで撮影している方も見かけ、多くのフォトファンに愛されるスポットであることも頷けます。琵琶湖の景色と地元グルメを満喫できる道の駅琵琶湖大橋米プラザ、ぜひ次の旅行計画に加えてみてはいかがでしょうか？
