✨FAMILY OF THREE PHOTOS✨

... Read moreHey everyone! After sharing our own family of three photoshoot from just before our little one's first birthday, I've had so many questions about how we got those natural, joyful shots. It really sparked a conversation about capturing those fleeting moments, especially in an outdoor setting like a sunny field or a grassy field, which so many of you loved! Planning a family photoshoot, especially with a baby, can feel a bit daunting, but it doesn't have to be. One of the biggest tips I can give is to embrace the outdoors! A beautiful spring day in a field, just like ours, offers incredible natural light and a relaxed backdrop. Think about golden hour – that magical time just before sunset or after sunrise. The soft, warm light makes everything look dreamy and helps avoid harsh shadows, making your family photos truly glow. If you're considering a spring outdoor family photo session, look for locations with tall grass, wildflowers, or even a simple paved path winding through nature, which can add lovely depth to your shots. Outfit coordination is another key element. For our session, we opted for classic black outfits, which always look chic and timeless. The trick is to choose comfortable clothing that allows for movement and play, especially for the little one. Think solid colors or subtle patterns rather than busy prints that might distract. For a family of three, picking a main color palette and then choosing complementary shades for each person works wonders. It creates a cohesive look without being overly matchy-matchy. Don't forget to consider the weather for an outdoor shoot; layers can be your best friend! Capturing authentic moments with your baby is what truly makes family pictures special. Forget rigid poses! We loved shots where Dad was tossing our baby into the air, or when we were just sitting together on a white blanket, laughing and interacting naturally. Some of my favorite memories are from candid shots – like when we were walking on a paved path, holding hands, or a close-up of adult hands gently holding our baby's tiny feet. These are the moments that truly tell your family's story. Encourage play, tickles, snuggles, and just being yourselves. If your baby is on the move, let them explore! A good photographer (or even a friend with a nice camera!) will know how to follow their lead and snap those precious, unscripted interactions. And speaking of props, sometimes less is more. A simple white blanket, like the one we used, can define your space and add a cozy element. It's practical too, offering a clean spot for everyone to sit or lie down. You could also bring a favorite toy for the baby or a meaningful item that represents your family. The goal is to enhance the scene, not to overwhelm it. Remember, these photos are about celebrating "our little family of three" and the incredible journey of parenthood. I hope these insights help you plan your own memorable family photoshoot!
