I lost over a 1000 followers last time.
In just one hour.
That’s when I posted that California should create new districts based on gorgeous natural areas like Big Sur and Avenue of giants.
Ok I get it, don’t put trail guides with politics.
But at some point, you need to stand for something. And I’m not claiming to be left or right.
I’m just outraged that politics are coming into my trails.
I was filming a new trail guide for the Kokanee Salmon Run at Lake Tahoe—a tradition I love sharing with my kids.
But then I saw this on the U.S. Forest Service website:
“The Radical Left Democrats shut down the government. This government website will be updated periodically during the funding lapse for mission critical functions. President Trump has made it clear he wants to keep the government open and support those who feed, fuel, and clothe the American people..”
As a hiker, I’m outraged—because our public lands should be neutral ground.
As an American, I’m appalled—because taxpayer-funded agencies shouldn’t push any political agenda.
And as a dad, I’m disappointed—because this isn’t the example I want set for the next generation of trail stewards.
Public lands belong to everyone. Let’s keep them that way. #fyp #publicland #hiking
I agree!
