ðĻSigns of Gum Disease
Gum Disease is a very common oral problem, divided into two main stages: Gingivitis and Periodontitis, which, if left, can lead to tooth loss. Here are some important warning signs to observe:
ð Gum Disease Alarm
ðš 1.Early signs (gingivitis - Gingivitis)
It is the most easily cured phase. If these symptoms are noticed, visit the dentist to scrape the limestone and improve oral hygiene:
Bleeding while brushing or flossing: This is the most obvious warning sign. Even with a small amount of bleeding, it should not be overlooked.
Red and soft swollen gums: Healthy gills should be light pink with smooth edges, but if the gills are dark red or purplish red, and swollen, they show inflammation.
Feeling hurt or irritated at the gums: especially when touching or chewing food.
Bad breath: caused by the accumulation of bacteria and plaque around the gill slits.
ðš 2.Severe stage sign (periodontitis - Periodontitis)
It is a phase in which the pathogen has already destroyed the bone and root-holding tissue, which can result in tooth loss:
Gum downward: The gums downward, making the teeth look longer and see more parts of the root.
There is a gap between the teeth and the gums (periodontal trench): the gums do not attach to the teeth, creating a trench that is easy to accumulate food debris and bacteria.
Rocking teeth or teeth move apart: When the bones around the root are destroyed, the grip of the teeth weakens, causing the teeth to start wobbling or moving away from their original position.
There is pus flowing out of the gingival groove: it is a sign of severe infection.
Pain when chewing food: When teeth start rocking or have severe inflammation, it feels sore or uncomfortable when used to chew.
There is a strange taste in the mouth: often caused by pus or chronic infection.
ð Advice: If you notice any of the above signs, especially bleeding on the gums while brushing your teeth, consult your dentist for a proper diagnosis and treatment immediately to prevent progression to permanent tooth loss.
