I looked for something sturdy that could handle the weight of vinyls and books, and adjustable shelves were a must for accommodating different-sized items, from my Portals vinyls to smaller trinkets. My 'Cry Baby' era items went together, then 'K-12,' and now, of course, a prime spot for 'Portals' and 'Trilogy' merch. For vinyls, I use clear acrylic stands so you can see the gorgeous album art. Smaller items like pins, keychains, or jewelry from her collaborations get displayed in small, clear acrylic boxes or on a mini tiered stand. It keeps them visible and protected. Don't forget about lighting! A small LED strip light under one of the shelves can really make your collection pop, especially if you have items with reflective surfaces or unique colors. I also love adding a little personal touch, like a small, framed photo of Melanie or a quote that resonates with me, to truly make it my display. Maintaining the shelf and the merch is also important. I try to dust regularly to keep everything looking fresh. For clothing items like tour shirts, I fold them neatly or use small tension rods within a shelf cubby to hang them if space allows. Protecting more delicate items from direct sunlight is key to prevent fading over time. It’s not just about having a shelf; it’s about creating a little Melanie Martinez sanctuary in your room.
