porter square bookstore✨📚
Porter Square Bookstore located in Boston, MA is such a gem!
This was my first time here and i most DEFINITELY will be returning.
The space was warm and inviting, they had a wild selection of books from YA Fiction to Romantasy to children’s books to historical fiction to even merch and accessories they have it all! When you walk in to the left you will find a coffee shop for all your caffeine needs then to the right you’ll enter the bookstore which in the first room has romance, children’s books, fiction, merch/activities then if you make your way to the back section you’ll find thrillers, historical, and several tables to relax and read while you enjoy the space. This back room also has a large stage (not pictured) for bookish related events.
The staff were SO helpful. They showed me all of the sections, listened to my wants in a book and pointed me in the direction of something i may not have picked out had they not recommended it. along with their recommendation based on my interests i picked out a staff blind date with a book (which so happened to be a book on my TBR)
Overall i will most DEFINITELY be returning. i look forward to keeping an eye on events they host in which i will happily return to attend.

Okay, so I have to tell you all about another amazing discovery I made during my visit to Porter Square Bookstore! While I was buzzing about all the incredible books and the super cozy atmosphere, I also noticed something really cool – a sign for 'Grub Street' and realized there's a whole other layer to this literary hub. For those of you who might not know, GrubStreet Boston is actually one of the nation's leading non-profit writing centers, and it's right there, either in the same building or just a stone's throw away from the bookstore itself. How cool is that for aspiring writers or even just anyone who loves the craft of storytelling? I was so intrigued, especially since the OCR picked up that sign for 'Grub Street' and mentions 'classes and activities' in the bookstore itself. It all started to click! From what I've learned, GrubStreet offers an amazing array of writing classes and workshops for all levels – whether you're just starting out with creative writing, looking to polish a novel, or even want to dive into specific genres like poetry or screenwriting. They're all about fostering a vibrant literary community and helping people develop their voices. Imagine being able to pop into Porter Square Bookstore, find inspiration among the shelves (maybe even pick up a 'Staff Picked Blind Date with a Book' that sparks a new idea!), grab a coffee, and then head over to a writing class or a literary event at GrubStreet? It feels like the ultimate literary ecosystem! The thought of having access to both a fantastic independent bookstore and a dedicated writing center in one go is just mind-blowing. It truly elevates Porter Square as a destination for anyone passionate about books and writing. They even host reading series, literary events, and open mics, creating a space where writers can share their work and connect with fellow creatives. It really makes sense why the OCR for the bookstore's interior also mentions 'classes and activities' in relation to an upstairs area – it's all part of this incredible synergy. It's not just about buying books; it's about being part of a living, breathing literary culture, truly 'raising passionate readers' and creators. This connection with GrubStreet adds so much depth to the Porter Square experience. It’s like the bookstore fuels your reading passion, and GrubStreet ignites your writing dreams. It definitely makes me want to explore their offerings more, maybe even sign up for a workshop myself! It’s such a powerful combination. So, if you're ever in Boston and looking for not just a great bookstore but a place that celebrates the entire literary journey, make sure to check out Porter Square Bookstore and keep an eye out for GrubStreet's presence. You might just find your next favorite book and your next favorite writing community!
