If there’s so many side effects, why take it?

Before judging a partner’s mood swings, remember birth control comes with a long list of side effects. I’m starting Implanon next week, and scrolling through birth control threads has me nervous. So many share stories of hellish first months: endless periods, weight changes, acne flare-ups, all while searching for what works. Is this really common? I’m wondering how to prepare, are these side effects universal, or just the loudest stories? It makes me think if so many of us navigate hormonal chaos, mood shifts, and physical discomfort from birth control, shouldn’t that mean more compassion from partners? Hormonal changes aren’t a choice they’re part of managing our health. So to the guys, a little extra patience, a listening ear, or just acknowledging “this must be hard” can mean the world. Or wearing a rubber!!!!!

Yeah… it wreaks havoc on our bodies. My fiancé is in full support of me coming off of it when I’m ready. I want to, but the whole reason I went on it is because I would bleed so bad that I became deathly anemic. A few times I almost got blood transfusions but they decided not to because of the risk & me being so young
