✨🔮 Crystal ball 🔮✨ #doodle #drawing #sketch Los Angeles
Hi everyone! 👋 I wanted to share a bit more about my love for daily doodling, especially when it comes to capturing something as enchanting as a crystal ball. You might have seen my latest #doodle of one, and I often get asked why I choose this subject, or how to get started on your own 'doodle ball' journey. For me, the crystal ball represents so much: mystery, wonder, and a touch of the extraordinary in our everyday lives. It’s a perfect subject for a quick sketch because its basic shape is simple, yet it offers endless possibilities for detail and imagination. When I sit down for my daily art session, a crystal ball allows me to explore different textures, light sources, and, most importantly, colors! Tips for Your Own Crystal Ball Doodle: Start with the Basics: Don't overthink it! Begin with a simple circle for the globe and a rectangular or oval shape for the base. Remember, it's a doodle, not a masterpiece – perfection isn't the goal. Add Depth with Shading: To make your crystal ball look three-dimensional, think about where your light source is coming from. Add darker shading on the opposite side and lighter reflections where the light hits. A simple gradient can work wonders. Play with Colors (OLORS!): This is my favorite part! A crystal ball doesn't have to be clear. Experiment with vibrant blues, deep purples, or even smoky grays. Think about what's inside the ball – is it a swirling galaxy, a cloudy prophecy, or just a burst of abstract light? Using different colors can really make your doodle pop. You can blend soft pastels for a dreamy look or use bold, contrasting hues for a more dramatic effect. I often find myself trying out new color combinations, like emerald greens fading into sapphire blues, creating a truly magical scene. Incorporate Reflections: A key element of a crystal ball is its reflective surface. Adding small, distorted reflections of imaginary surroundings (like a window, a star, or even just a blob of color) can give it a really convincing, glassy look. Embrace the Imperfect: The beauty of a daily doodle is its spontaneous nature. Don't worry if lines aren't perfectly straight or if your shading isn't flawless. Each imperfection adds character and tells a story about your creative flow that day. Why Doodle Daily? Beyond just creating art, daily doodling has become a little ritual for me. It’s a fantastic way to unwind, clear my mind, and tap into my creativity without any pressure. Even just 10-15 minutes can make a huge difference. It's not about producing gallery-worthy art; it's about the process, the exploration, and the simple joy of putting pen (or pencil) to paper. If you're feeling stressed or just need a creative outlet, I highly recommend trying a 'doodle ball' or any other simple subject that sparks your imagination. It's a wonderful way to practice mindfulness and boost your artistic confidence. I'd love to see what magical colors and creations you come up with!
