lilly pad lurker no 2
I love this little guy stickers coming soon
Hey everyone! I'm so thrilled to share a bit more about my latest creation, 'Lily Pad Lurker No 2.' You know how sometimes an idea just pops into your head and refuses to leave? That's exactly what happened with this little guy! I was out by a pond one day, admiring the vibrant green of the lily pads, and started imagining what kind of adorable creature might call that serene world home. That's how this charming little lurker was born! I really wanted to capture that whimsical feeling of discovery, like you've just stumbled upon a secret guardian of the pond. The idea of a creature resembling a dragon or even a playful salamander, peeking out from behind the foliage, just felt so right. I chose graphite for this piece because I love how it allows for such intricate details and a classic, timeless feel. There's something magical about black and white art, don't you think? It really lets the form and expression of the 'little guy' shine through. I spent hours carefully sketching those delicate lily pads and flowers, trying to make the hidden creature's gaze both curious and endearing. The circular composition really frames its world beautifully, making it feel like a peek into a magical moment, almost like you've caught it by surprise in its natural habitat. What makes this 'lilli' so adorable to me is its innocent curiosity and its slightly mischievous peek. It's not a fearsome dragon, but a gentle, watchful presence that seems to embody the peacefulness of nature. Its eyes, even in graphite, convey such a sweet personality, making it instantly lovable. I often find myself smiling when I look at it, and I hope you do too! It's a sweet reminder that even in the quietest corners of nature, there's always something wonderful and unexpected waiting to be discovered. Creating this piece was such a joy, from the initial spark of inspiration to seeing the final lines come together. It's always rewarding to bring a creature from my imagination into the world, especially one that brings a little bit of cheer. Drawing animals and fantastical creatures has always been a passion of mine. I find so much inspiration outdoors, and this 'lilly pad lurker' is a perfect example of how the simplest observation can turn into something truly special. The detail in the graphite drawing, especially how the light plays on the water and the textures of the lily pads, was a particular challenge and a delight to render. It really gives the artwork depth and makes you feel like you could reach out and touch those cool, damp leaves. And the best part? I'm already working on turning this 'Lily Pad Lurker' into a series of stickers! Imagine having this cute face peeking out from your laptop, journal, or water bottle. I'm so excited to bring this artwork to life in a new way and share it with you all. I'm thinking of a few different poses, maybe one where it's fully emerged, and another just its eyes, to capture all its adorable expressions. What do you think? I'd love to hear your ideas for where you'd put these stickers! Keep an eye out for updates soon – I can't wait for you to have your own little lurker buddy!
