หลายคนเรียน Adjective (คำคุณศัพท์) มาตั้งนาน แต่พอทำโจทย์จริงยังสับสนอยู่ดีว่า “adjective คืออะไร” และต้องวางตรงไหนถึงจะถูก เราขอสรุปให้เป็นภาษาง่าย ๆ แบบเอาไปใช้ได้ทันทีนะ 1) Adjective คืออะไร? Adjective คือคำที่ใช้ “ขยายคำนาม/สรรพนาม” เพื่อบอกลักษณะ เช่น ขนาด สี ความรู้สึก จำนวน เจ้าของ ฯลฯ ทำให้ประโยคชัดขึ้น เช่น a tall boy, a beautiful dress 2) ตำแหน่งของ Adjective ที่เจอบ่อย (2 ตำแหน่ง) - วางหน้า Noun: a smart student, an old house - วางหลัง Verb to be / Linking verb: The student is smart. / The soup smells good. (linking verb เช่น look, seem, feel, taste, smell, become) ทริค: ถ้าหลัง is/are/am แล้วตามด้วยคำบรรยาย มักเป็น adjective ไม่ใช่ adverb (เช่น She looks happy.) 3) ประเภทที่คนค้นบ่อย: Quantitative adjective คืออะไร? Quantitative adjective คือคำคุณศัพท์ที่บอก “ปริมาณ/จำนวน” ตอบได้ว่าเท่าไร/มากน้อยแค่ไหน เช่น some, many, much, few, little, several, a lot of ตัวอย่าง: I have many books. / There is little water. ทริคจำ: many/few ใช้กับนามนับได้ (books) ส่วน much/little ใช้กับนามนับไม่ได้ (water) 4) OSASCOMP คืออะไร? (สูตรเรียง Adjective หลายคำ) เวลาเจอ adjective มากกว่า 1 คำ ให้วางตามลำดับนี้: O Opinion (ความเห็น) → S Size (ขนาด) → A Age (อายุ) → S Shape (รูปทรง) → C Color (สี) → O Origin (แหล่งที่มา) → M Material (วัสดุ) → P Purpose (จุดประสงค์) ตัวอย่าง: a lovely (O) small (S) old (A) round (S) black (C) Italian (O) leather (M) bag (P) ไม่จำเป็นต้องมีครบทุกช่อง แต่ถ้ามีหลายคำ ลำดับนี้ช่วยให้ประโยคเป็นธรรมชาติขึ้นมาก 5) “his ใช้กับอะไร” และคำว่าคำจำกัดความคืออะไร? his เป็น possessive adjective (คำคุณศัพท์แสดงความเป็นเจ้าของ) ใช้ “วางหน้าคำนาม” เพื่อบอกว่าเป็นของเขา เช่น his book, his car หลายคนเรียกกลุ่มนี้ว่า “คำจำกัดความ (determiner)” เพราะทำหน้าที่กำหนด/ชี้เฉพาะคำนาม เช่น a/an, the, this/that, my/your/his/her/our/their, some/any ข้อควรระวัง: his ไม่ใช้เดี่ยว ๆ แบบสรรพนามเจ้าของ (ต้องเป็น his + noun) ถ้าจะใช้เดี่ยว ๆ ให้ใช้ “his” แบบ possessive pronoun ได้ในบางบริบท เช่น This book is his. (แต่โครงสร้างต่างจาก his book) ถ้าอยากฝึกเร็ว ๆ ลองแต่งประโยควันละ 5 ประโยค โดยใช้ 1) วางหน้า noun 2) วางหลัง to be 3) มี adjective 2-3 คำตาม OSASCOMP รับรองแม่นขึ้นไวมาก
