จากประสบการณ์เลี้ยงน้องหมามาตลอด ผมเคยมีช่วงหนึ่งที่น้องหมาแสดงพฤติกรรมไถก้นกับพื้นซึ่งตอนแรกก็แค่ขำๆ ไม่ได้เอะใจอะไร แต่พอไปพบสัตวแพทย์ก็ได้รู้ว่านั่นอาจเป็นสัญญาณของต่อมก้นอุดตัน ซึ่งถ้าไม่รีบรักษาอาจทำให้อักเสบและเจ็บปวดมากขึ้นได้ นอกจากนี้ กลิ่นปากของน้องหมาก็เป็นสัญญาณหนึ่งที่ควรใส่ใจมากกว่าที่คิด แม้หลายคนอาจเข้าใจว่าเป็นเรื่องธรรมดา แต่กลิ่นเหม็นแรงหรือกลิ่นแปลกๆ เช่น กลิ่นเหม็นเน่า หรือกลิ่นหวานๆ อาจบ่งบอกว่าปัญหาสุขภาพที่ซ่อนอยู่ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นเหงือกอักเสบ ฟันผุ หรือแม้แต่ความเสี่ยงโรคไตและโรคเบาหวาน เรื่องการกินน้ำเยอะผิดปกติก็สำคัญมากเหมือนกัน ผมสังเกตว่าเมื่อน้องหมากินน้ำมากขึ้นและเข้าห้องน้ำบ่อยขึ้น อาจเป็นสัญญาณว่าร่างกายมีปัญหาเกี่ยวกับไตหรือฮอร์โมนผิดปกติ ต้องรีบพาไปตรวจสุขภาพเพื่อป้องกันภาวะแทรกซ้อนที่จะตามมา ที่สำคัญที่สุดคือ น้องหมาไม่สามารถบอกเราได้ว่าตัวเองป่วยด้วยคำพูด สิ่งที่ดูเหมือนเรื่องเล็กน้อย เช่น การเปลี่ยนแปลงพฤติกรรมหรืออาการที่เรามองข้าม อาจเป็นสัญญาณเตือนภัยที่ช่วยให้เราดูแลสุขภาพน้องหมาได้อย่างทันท่วงที จึงอยากแนะนำให้เจ้าของสัตว์เลี้ยงทุกคนใส่ใจในรายละเอียดเล็กๆ เหล่านี้ และไม่ปล่อยผ่านหากพบความผิดปกติ เพื่อสุขภาพที่แข็งแรงและชีวิตที่ยืนยาวของน้องหมา
