Hey bookworms! You know that stack of books just waiting to be read, gathering dust but full of promise? That’s our beloved 'physical TBR' (To Be Read) pile! If you’ve ever wondered, 'what is a physical TBR?' or 'what is a TBR?' in general, you’re in the right place. It’s simply all the physical books you own but haven’t gotten around to reading yet. For me, it’s a constant challenge and a source of both excitement and a little bit of reader guilt! I’ve been on a mission to conquer my own mountain of books, and I’m thrilled to share I’m 94 books deep into my current physical TBR challenge! It's not always easy, but it's incredibly rewarding. I started this journey because my shelves were overflowing, and I wanted to rediscover some gems I'd forgotten I even owned. So, why do we accumulate these glorious piles? Often, it’s the thrill of a good book sale, gifts from friends, or even aspirational buying—picking up a book you know you’ll love *someday*. My physical TBR grew organically from all these reasons, and before I knew it, I had well over a hundred books waiting. That's when I decided it was time to actively start reading my physical TBR. My strategy for tackling it has evolved, but here are a few things that have really helped me. First, I try to pick a mix of genres to avoid burnout. Sometimes I’m in the mood for a light romance, other times a gripping thriller. Second, I don’t force myself to finish a book I’m not enjoying. Life’s too short for bad books, even if they’re on your TBR! And third, I set small, achievable goals, like reading just one chapter a day. Every little bit adds up! Speaking of diverse reads, I recently picked up a book that was on my list for ages: 'Scattered Showers' by Rainbow Rowell. I'd heard so many good things, and it was such a delightful escape, perfect for a cozy afternoon. It's a great example of those books that you know are waiting for you, and finally getting to them is just the best feeling. And what’s a good reading session without the perfect companion? It brings me to a question I've been pondering: What is your favorite holiday drink? I love finding that perfect seasonal beverage to sip while I'm curled up with a book. Whether it's a gingerbread latte from Starbucks, a festive Dunkin brew, or something homemade, it just adds to the whole cozy vibe.
