The “little” things we eat that we shouldn’t
We all have that one thing that we shouldn’t eat but we do. And we eat it A LOT! Mine happens to be BACON! I know it’s not healthy, but I just can’t help myself. If my husband would let me I’d have bacon at every meal. What is that one thing you eat that you shouldn’t? How often do you indulge in that sinful teary? #lemon8challenge. #AskLemon8
From my experience, it’s incredibly challenging to give up certain favorite foods that we know aren't the healthiest, like bacon. The rich, smoky flavor and crispy texture make it a tough habit to break. Many people find themselves irresistibly drawn to these kinds of foods because they evoke comfort and satisfaction, even if only temporarily. Bacon is naturally hardwood smoked to give it that intense flavor, but as shown in many popular brands such as Hormel Black Label and others, it’s important to recognize that these processed meats come with health risks when consumed too often. Overindulgence can lead to increased intake of saturated fats and sodium, which can contribute to heart disease and other health issues if not balanced with a healthy diet. One way I've learned to manage this craving is by moderating the portions and choosing higher-quality bacon options that have fewer additives. It also helps to pair small amounts with nutrient-rich foods like vegetables or whole grains to make meals more balanced. Alternatively, exploring other protein options like turkey bacon or plant-based substitutes can help reduce the guilt and health impact. I'd love to hear about your own 'little' food indulgences and how you try to keep them in check. Sharing these experiences can help build a supportive community that understands the struggle between enjoying delicious foods and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Remember, it’s okay to indulge occasionally, but being mindful about frequency and portion size is key to staying on track with health goals.
