For the longest time, I believed all the myths.
“Locs collect lint.”
“Locs get dirty.”
“Locs are dirty.”
But after educating myself, I realized something that completely changed my perspective.
✨ Locs aren’t dirty. They can collect lint and buildup because of their unique structure—not because they’re unhygienic. Just like fabric can hold lint, locs can too. Healthy locs are built through proper cleansing, moisturizing, and maintenance.
Another thing nobody prepared me for? The in-between stage.
Everyone talks about starter locs and mature locs, but hardly anyone talks about the patience it takes in the middle. So many people compare their journey to someone who’s been growing their locs for years, forgetting that every set of locs has its own timeline.
