Often, these patterns feel so normal because they've been with us for so long—sometimes since childhood—that they become almost invisible. It wasn’t until I started questioning why I reacted a certain way in stressful situations that I realized how these learned behaviors limited my potential. One key insight is that many patterns are passed down unconsciously from family or environment, and we accept them as 'just who we are' without realizing they might not serve our best interests. For example, I noticed I had a tendency to avoid confrontation because I equated it with conflict and negativity, but as I became more self-aware, I learned that healthy communication is vital. Choosing not to repeat these patterns allowed me to build better relationships and improve my emotional wellbeing. The hardest step is deciding to change because it calls for vulnerability and persistence. Tools like journaling, therapy, or reading impactful books such as 'Patterns You Didn’t Know You Learned' can provide guidance and clarity. This book deepened my understanding by explaining how our brain forms these patterns and offers practical ways to start healing. In my healing journey, embracing self-awareness became the foundation for transforming not just my reactions but also my beliefs. It’s empowering to realize that the future isn’t fixed by past patterns and that conscious change opens up a new path filled with possibilities.
