Losing friends, especially those we once believed would be part of our lives forever, can be a deeply painful experience. From my own experience, I’ve realized that not all friendships endure because not all friends have the same level of commitment or respect. True friends don't abandon you or push you aside over trivial issues, or worse, because of other people interfering in the relationship. Reflecting on these experiences, I learned how important it is to recognize the qualities of genuine friendship early on. Trust, loyalty, and mutual respect form the core of any lasting relationship. When friends repeatedly dismiss your feelings or prioritize others over you without valid reasons, it’s often a sign that the friendship may not be as real as it seemed. Through this journey, I also understood the value of setting boundaries and protecting my emotional well-being. It’s crucial to invest time and energy into friendships where you feel valued and supported rather than feeling abandoned or sidelined. This doesn’t mean cutting off all connections hastily, but rather learning to identify and cherish those who truly care and stand by you. In the end, losing some friends who were not authentic opened the door to healthier relationships and self-growth. It’s a tough lesson but one that taught me to appreciate the true meaning of friendship—where empathy, understanding, and loyalty are the pillars that hold us together through good and challenging times.
