Steady Faith

Discipline in the garden teaches me this every season.

The thinning, the pruning, the waiting… it’s not always comfortable.

But later? There’s growth. There’s bloom. There’s harvest. 🌿

Staying steady.

... Read moreDiscipline is rarely comfortable, whether in gardening or in life's many challenges. From my experience, the process of thinning, pruning, and waiting parallels essential life lessons. Just as plants need careful nurturing, cutting back, and time to mature before they bloom, we too must cultivate patience and steady faith. One particularly meaningful moment for me was reflecting on the verse from Hebrews 12:11: "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." This reminds me that although discipline feels tough now, it ultimately leads to inner growth and peace. In my garden, I’ve seen that pruning away excess or damaged parts is crucial—not only does it allow more energy for healthy growth, but it also teaches me to let go of distractions or negative influences in life. Waiting is perhaps the hardest part, as patience is tested when you don’t see immediate results. But over time, growth happens beneath the surface, and flowers bloom in their own season. Keeping steady faith throughout this process has helped me stay grounded and hopeful. This steady approach applies to broader personal goals too—discipline and patience can transform difficult seasons into fruitful outcomes. By sharing these reflections drawn from gardening, I hope to encourage others to embrace the uncomfortable times, trusting that growth and harvest await. Ultimately, staying steady through discipline is not just about the external results but also about cultivating resilience, peace, and a deeper connection to the cycles of life.
