Benji is my favorite returned rescue for a reason! 7 years later and I certainly never get bored
Having Benji as a rescue dog has been an incredible experience filled with love and surprises. One interesting feature many people notice is his black tongue, which often prompts questions like "What's wrong with him?" This unique trait is actually common among certain dog breeds like Chow Chows and can also appear in mixed breeds, including rescues like Benji. It's just one of those special characteristics that make him stand out and always a conversation starter. Over the years, I've learned that owning a rescue dog is not just about giving them a second chance but also embracing their unique personalities and quirks. Benji’s playful nature and affectionate behavior never cease to brighten my day. Each year with him feels like a new adventure, a chance to see how much he grows and how our bond deepens. Rescue dogs often carry the past in their eyes—stories of hardship and survival. Despite this, or maybe because of it, they tend to be incredibly loyal and loving companions. For anyone considering adopting a rescue, I can say it’s one of the most rewarding decisions. The journey with Benji has taught me patience, compassion, and the pure joy of unconditional love. If you notice your dog has a black tongue too, it’s nothing to worry about—just a little natural uniqueness. And if you’re lucky, like me, you’ll have years of companionship, shared moments, and plenty of smiles with your furry friend.
