... Read moreOMG, playing Brooke Wyndham in 'Legally Blonde The Musical' was an absolute dream come true! As a huge fan of the show, stepping into those iconic shoes (and that bright orange jumpsuit!) felt surreal. Brooke is such a powerhouse character – fierce, funny, and has some of the most memorable numbers in the entire show. Everyone knows her for the "Whipped Into Shape" prison scene, and honestly, performing that number every night was pure adrenaline! The energy from the audience during that particular number was always incredible, and it really pushed us to give it our all. It's a testament to how iconic that scene and the entire musical have become. Preparing for the role was intense but incredibly rewarding. I spent weeks rehearsing the choreography, especially for the jump rope routine in the prison scene. It's way harder than it looks to sing, dance, and jump rope simultaneously without missing a beat! We had so many laughs during rehearsals, trying to perfect our synchronized moves, and there were definitely a few tangled ropes along the way! Getting into character also meant embracing Brooke's confident, slightly sassy, yet ultimately kind spirit. She’s a woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go for it, even when she's falsely accused. Her journey, albeit a side plot, really highlights the themes of female empowerment and standing up for yourself, which resonates so much with me. My favorite part had to be the costumes! From the vibrant red dress she wears during her initial appearance – the one where she's first introduced and instantly commands attention – to the iconic orange jumpsuit during her time in jail, each outfit really helped embody her character's journey. Seeing myself in that striking red dress, looking out at the audience under the stage lights, truly made me feel like Brooke. And of course, sharing the stage with our amazing Elle Woods was always a blast. Our dynamic during the trial scenes, especially, was so much fun to play; the camaraderie among the cast was just fantastic. It felt like a real-life sisterhood, much like the one portrayed in the musical. For anyone who's a fan of the musical or thinking of seeing it, I highly recommend it! If you're wondering what to wear to the Legally Blonde musical, honestly, anything bright and fabulous works! Think pinks, purples, or even a bold red like Brooke's. It's a show that celebrates individuality and confidence, so express yourself! Attending in a fun, vibrant outfit just adds to the whole experience. From the catchy songs to the hilarious dialogue and the heartwarming message, it’s such an uplifting story about proving everyone wrong and finding your own voice. I learned so much from playing Brooke, not just about performing, but about resilience, friendship, and believing in yourself against all odds. It's performances like these that make me fall in love with musical theatre all over again, and I'm so grateful for every single moment I got to spend as Ms. Wyndham.
