SEEDS I’M STARTING IN JANUARY

To give them a longer time to grow strong, germinate, I know I need to start these earlier this year! They need significant growth before being strong enough to transplant in my experience in #zone6b

I’m starting these seeds in my garage greenhouse with a heating mat this month:

🍅 tomatoes

🌼 marigolds

🍆 eggplant

🫑 peppers

🌿 herbs

... Read moreGrowing your garden from seeds in January can be an exciting and rewarding endeavor. As you prepare to sow, consider the amazing benefits of starting seeds indoors, especially in colder climates like zone 6b. By germinating seeds early, you’re giving your plants a head start, allowing for stronger seedlings ready for transplanting by the time the last frost date arrives. Tomatoes are a fantastic choice, thriving when started indoors before being moved outside. These nutritious fruits enjoy warm conditions, making a heating mat a perfect addition to your gardening arsenal. Marigolds, with their pest-repelling qualities, are not only beautiful but also beneficial when planted near vegetables. Don’t forget about eggplants and peppers! Starting these crops early means a longer growing season and potentially greater yields. Starting herbs indoors can also provide fresh flavors for your meals. Popular options like basil, parsley, and cilantro can be sown this month. As you begin this garden journey, remember to monitor moisture levels and provide plenty of light for your seedlings. Engage with fellow gardening enthusiasts by joining discussions in community forums about starting seedlings, homesteading, and more to expand your knowledge and connect with others who share your passion for gardening.
