Fool me 3 times FUCK the peace sign.
Having encountered situations where trust was broken multiple times, I've found myself reevaluating symbols like the peace sign that traditionally represent harmony and goodwill. It’s fascinating how repeated experiences of betrayal or disappointment can change our emotional association with such symbols. The peace sign, originally designed to promote nuclear disarmament and later widely adopted as a universal symbol of peace, has always carried a hopeful and positive message. However, when personal experiences conflict with the ideal behind the symbol, it’s natural to feel a sense of disillusionment. From my own perspective, this shift in feeling is not just about the symbol itself but about what it represents in our social interactions. Sometimes, when people say ‘peace’ but their actions don’t align, it leads to mistrust and frustration. This disconnect can make symbols like the peace sign feel less meaningful or even frustrating. I believe it’s important to acknowledge these feelings as part of human experience. Symbols carry power because of the meaning we attribute to them, and when our experiences challenge those meanings, it can lead to a reassessment. At the same time, I try to remind myself that the symbol’s original intention—promoting peace and understanding—remains valuable even if my personal experiences have made me wary. It’s a reminder that while symbols can evoke strong emotions based on personal context, the broader message can still hold hope for connection and reconciliation.
