Dubai Chocolate Mini Bundt from Boxed Cake

Any real baker knows you can take boxed cake mix and turn it into something that could have came out of an upscale bakery.

For these mini bundts, I used devils food cake mix and altered the ingredients slightly. I swapped milk for water, butter for oil, and added an extra egg. Poured the batter into mini Bundt molds and baked on 350f until done.

The icing is a simple vanilla butter cream with toasted kataifi mixed in. Finally, I topped each mini Bundt with some crushed pistachios.

What makes this recipe stand out is how it cleverly upgrades a simple store-bought mix into a decadent dessert with just a few ingredient swaps. Instead of using water as suggested, I replaced it with milk to add extra richness. Butter was swapped for oil, which helped keep the mini bundts moist while adding subtle flavor. Adding an extra egg gave the cake a wonderful structure and softness that you usually find in bakery-quality treats. Baking them in mini Bundt molds at 350°F allowed for an attractive shape and even cooking, making these perfect for serving at parties or family gatherings. My favorite part was the homemade vanilla buttercream icing enhanced with toasted kataifi—an uncommon but delicious addition that adds an intriguing crunch and texture contrast. To finish, I sprinkled crushed pistachios on top, which gave the mini bundts a beautiful vibrant green accent and a nutty flavor complement. These little touches elevated a simple cake mix into a dessert that looks and tastes gourmet. If you’re looking for an easy yet impressive dessert, I highly recommend trying this method. It’s also versatile, so you can experiment with different cake flavors and toppings. Overall, using boxed cake mix as a base is a fantastic shortcut without sacrificing quality. Incorporating small ingredient changes and thoughtful garnishes transforms it into a refined treat perfect for any occasion. Plus, baking mini Bundts is a fun way to make portion-controlled desserts that everyone will enjoy.
