A new, more realistic form of cheats is now found, with crooks, often abroad, using the "open fake online accounts or stores" method to trick victims into making cross-country payments.

🔸 Cheats.

1. The crooks persuade the victim to order or pay for cross-country service.

2.Then send the QR Code for payment. The amount is specified in the QR Code.

3. When the victim scans the QR Code through the bank application, the system will automatically convert the currency.

For example, the balance is "1,000 baht," but the destination is "foreign currency."

4. The system will display the status of "Real-time confirmation." Both the payer and the store will see the data match, convincing the victim that the payment is correct.

5. In fact, destination accounts belong to crooks abroad. Once the money has been transferred, tracking or retrieval is almost impossible.

🔸 Notice before transfer

• Verify that the destination balance is in THB (THB) if found to be "USD," "CNY," "SGD" or another currency. It is considered high risk.

• If the system says "cross-country transfer" or has an "exchange rate fee" message, stop listing and check with the bank first.

• If the seller accelerates the transfer immediately, claims that "the system will run out of time" or "the price will change," suspect that it may be a crook.

🔸 How to prevent

✅ Check the account name and currency correctly before confirming the transfer.

✅ If it is a cross-country transfer, the bank should be questioned directly before making the list.

✅ Avoid QR Code scans from unknown sources or those obtained through chat and social media.

✅ Keep screenshots (e.g. slips, QR Code, Chats) as evidence.
