The Traveling Curtains 🌸🍋✨
The story behind the curtains: Both literally and figuratively. I’ll give the literal - I put these curtains in my new office back in 2020 after being promoted to Community School Director to give my students some positive affirmation energy every time they walked by my office. The week after I finally decided to put the curtains up; I got a surprise meeting scheduled — to let me go. 😭
The tears I cried for days and weeks and months on end were constant. I went into depression…again…was unemployed with everyone else that was home during 2020. But, I wasn’t working. During that time of depression I needed to be reaffirmed after being broken down so much during those 6mts. I was unemployed for 9mts. During those 9mts @Peelingpositives was born. And for that, I am #GRATEFUL 🫶🏾💜🫶🏾
Losing a job unexpectedly can feel like the end of the world, especially when it coincides with global hardships such as the 2020 pandemic. I experienced this firsthand when I was let go shortly after putting up hopeful curtains in my office—a small gesture meant to uplift my students. The emotional impact was overwhelming; I went through months of deep sadness and depression, feeling lost amid the uncertainty. During this challenging period, I realized the power of self-affirmation and the importance of staying positive. The curtains, which at first signified the end of a chapter, became a symbol of resilience and hope. They reminded me daily that even in moments of difficulty, there is space for growth and renewal. Creating @Peelingpositives was not just a coping mechanism but a transformative journey that helped me find purpose again. Sharing positive affirmations and personal growth stories with a broader community allowed me to connect with others facing similar struggles. It’s amazing how vulnerability can turn into strength when we embrace our challenges instead of fearing them. If you’re facing a tough transition like job loss or emotional setbacks, remember that it’s okay to grieve but also crucial to seek outlets that reaffirm your worth. Whether it’s through art, social media, journaling, or simply surrounding yourself with supportive people, every small step toward positivity contributes to healing. The traveling curtains taught me that sometimes, what seems like an ending is just the start of a beautiful new path. Stay grateful and keep peeling back the layers to reveal your best self.
