Body language that signals "I'm not confident" - hugging my chest, avoiding my eyes, or not standing straight; it tells others before our mouths to say, "I'm not sure what I'm saying."

Verbal self-devaluation - "I'm not good at it," "Just offer an opinion." These sentences make others begin to doubt our abilities.

Unprepared - When we can't answer questions or seem dazed, people immediately feel that we're not serious.

These things don't mean we don't have the ability, but they create a "confidence gap" that takes people a long time to trust us.
