Last year this setting spray went CRAZY online I was so influenced by online media and by my friends that I bought it myself hoping it was going to be the best thing EVER…I hated it, but why?
1. It’s micro fine- it feels as tough I’m barely putting anything in my face, as seen in the picture it does spray a LOT but it feels like nothing (because it’s micro fine) I’m honestly at fault I should have looked into that rather than being influenced and buying it out of whim😞
2. STAY ALL NIGHT???- bye this can’t even stay an hour I would wear this and I would have makeup on my clothes and papers trust this did not make anything “stay”
I really don’t like this setting spray at ALL I prefer the o/s setting spray over this. I love elf but this setting spray I will NEVER EVER touch or repurchase.
(These are my personal opinions everybody is different some people like it some people don’t we are all different and are entitled to our own opinions)
... Read moreAs someone who's always on the hunt for that perfect makeup product, I totally get the excitement when a setting spray goes viral. We all want our makeup to last, to survive long days, unexpected rain, or even just a night out without smudging or fading. The promise of an 'e.l.f. Stay All Night Setting Mist' definitely caught my eye, and like many, I wondered if it was truly 'Worth the Hype?'.
When I first got my hands on the e.l.f. Stay All Night Micro-Fine Setting Mist bottle, I was intrigued by the 'micro-fine spray' claim. A truly micro-fine mist should feel like a soft cloud settling on your face, seamlessly melding your makeup together without disturbing it. It should create an invisible veil that helps lock everything in place, giving you that fresh, just-applied look for hours. However, in my personal experience with this particular mist, while it felt like barely anything was touching my skin, it didn't translate into extended wear. It felt more like a quick spritz of water rather than a powerful makeup locker. This made me question if the micro-fine nature, in this case, actually reduced its effectiveness in creating a lasting barrier.
Now, let's talk about the 'Stay All Night' claim. For me, a setting spray with such a bold name should mean my makeup is practically bulletproof. I expect it to minimize transfer, prevent creasing, and keep everything looking fresh for at least 8-12 hours, depending on my activity level. I’ve used other setting sprays where I can genuinely see and feel the difference – my foundation stays put, my blush doesn't fade, and I don't find makeup streaks on my phone or clothes. With the e.l.f. mist, I unfortunately found my makeup migrating and fading much quicker than I anticipated. It was disappointing to realize that after just an hour or two, I was already seeing signs of wear, which utterly defeated the purpose of a 'stay all night' product.
So, what should we look for in a setting spray if the e.l.f. one isn't cutting it? From my perspective, it’s a balance of ingredients and application. Look for formulas that contain film-forming polymers – these are the workhorses that create a flexible film over your makeup. Humectants like glycerin can also be beneficial for a comfortable feel, especially if you have drier skin, but the primary goal is longevity. For those with oily skin, mattifying ingredients are key. The bottle's spray mechanism also plays a huge role; even if the 'label details' promise a micro-fine spray, the actual performance needs to deliver a consistent, even distribution to effectively coat your entire face.
To make any setting spray work better, or to at least give a struggling one a fighting chance, here are a few personal tips I've picked up: always hold the bottle about an arm's length away from your face for an even mist. Spray in an 'X' and 'T' pattern to cover all areas. Let it dry completely before touching your face or applying any final touches. Sometimes, layering a translucent powder, misting, and then lightly dusting a bit more powder can create a more robust seal. Ultimately, while the e.l.f. Stay All Night Micro-Fine Setting Mist might work for some, my experience showed that sometimes, viral hype doesn't always translate into personal success. It's a reminder that individual preferences and skin types truly dictate what makes a product great.
