Moms in College: This Is Your Sign to Keep Going 🦋

This one’s for the moms.

The ones chasing dreams in between nap schedules.

The ones who feel like life started over the moment they had kids—so everything else had to wait.

I returned to college when my daughter was just 9 months old.

A month later, I got pregnant again.

None of my previous credits transferred. I had to start completely from scratch.

I gave birth during a summer class.

I breastfed through freshman and sophomore years.

My kids sat next to me while I sketched, critiqued my designs, and climbed all over my projects.

Every semester, my husband had to change his work hours just so I could show up to the one class schedule I was given.

It wasn’t easy. It never is.

But I did it. And if you’re a mom wondering if you still can—this is your sign.

Start messy. Start tired. Start unsure.

But start anyway.

You’re not behind.

You’re raising babies and building something for yourself. That’s not weakness—that’s power.

I hope my kids remember watching me do it.

And I hope you remember that you can, too.

Save this if you needed the reminder.

Share it with the strongest mom you know.

We’re allowed to want more.

Many women, like you, have chosen to pursue higher education while raising children, demonstrating that education and parenting can coexist. Balancing classes, assignments, and family obligations is no small feat; however, establishing a supportive network and time management strategies can significantly ease this dual responsibility. Consider reaching out to fellow moms or joining study groups to share resources and motivation. Universities today often offer services tailored to parenting students, such as childcare, flexible scheduling, and online classes, enabling a smoother transition into academic life. Many have found that involving their children in their educational journey not only fosters a supportive family environment but also sets a powerful example for their kids about the importance of resilience and pursuing one's dreams. In addition, explore scholarships and grants specifically designed for mothers returning to school. These resources can alleviate financial stress and allow you more time to focus on your academic goals. Remember, you are not alone in this journey; countless other mothers share similar experiences, and the community is there to uplift and encourage you. Embrace the chaos and uncertainties because every step you take is a step towards achieving your dreams. You are setting up a future not just for yourself but also for your children, showing them the merits of dedication and perseverance.
